NBC, Comcast and the TWC Merger

If that happens, they'll lose all the cable properties they acquired prior to the merger PLUS NBCSN (Which used to be Comcast owned VS before the merger) too

Somehow once faced with the prospect of that, I get the feeling they'll back out trying to merge with TWC.....

JMO.....

Cheers & 73 :)

I hope they do. I was reading about the merger and they have gone digital and, while Time Warner has not done this in all areas, they have done it in some. There are additional costs for me if they do, including losing the ability to record more than one TV series at a time on each DVR. I occasionally lose a show because I didn't know two shows were on at once, but more often than not, that's not a problem because I can record two shows.

But I just spent nearly $600 to make sure I could still record two shows at once, since a VCR might not allow me to select channels. It was nearly a lot more because TiVo no longer makes the machines I can use without even more expenses. And the one I got and returned almost gave me additional monthly fees I didn't want, but I didn't want those channels. The new one, which is old, doesn't have that problem.

An antenna would be cheaper than all this, but would it work? For one channel I really like, I've heard it would not.

New York Times reports that Comcast may consider spinning off 3 million subscribers to Liberty Media (owners of 27% of Charter Communications) as a result of their merger with TWC:

If that happens, I would not be surprised if many former Insight areas spun onto Comcast in 2008, including here in Springfield and much of downstate Illinois, are among those markets shipped to Charter (who is the dominant cableco 100 miles from me in the St. Louis metro).

Frankly, Comcast needs to be nudged from time to time to take care of who and what they have, which I have mentioned to them twice in the past 24 hours. They seemed rather shocked that anyone was keeping abreast of the proposed transaction and apologized when I politely mentioned that they are having difficulty with what they have and that they should probably not be contemplating a merger or takeover of more. Just a matter of two important customer service issues with which they have been very sloppy of late. A whole lot of hype does not necessarily have everyone just being swept along like a New Year's Eve on Times Square, not having a clue except that this must be the party.
