NBC ending Leno’s nightly prime-time show

I asked this in the other thread as well, but could this also be opening another can of worms? Suppose Jay and Conan do agree to the new setup, but some local stations decide to add another half hour or more of news and and/or syndicated shows and either push them back, or possibly drop one or both completely? This looks like something that could bring about the collapse of NBC Late Night.

On Jay's final 10pm show, will he bring out the staff members that conceieved a child while the show was in production?

Maybe that or the staff members that Letterman slept with or all of Tiger's mistresses. That could be one crowded stage. :D

I know!

"Weeknight 'Rasslin' on NBC @ 10!"

Yeah, that'll hook 'em.

And cheap, too!

I can't help but think back to Jerry Lewis' disastrous
Saturday-night talk/variety show on ABC in 1963, a
venture that's still sometimes compared to the sinking
of the Titanic. Jay's primetime venture might not have
been quite as disastrous but it certainly comes close.

But now the question is: can he win back the audience
that switched to Letterman during the fall?

here's the problem, with Jay leaving at 10 PM, his show moves to 11:35 PM for 1/2 hour then Conan/Jimmy from 12:05-2:05, what happens now to lame duck Carson Daly. Of course now they have Poker After Dark at 2:05 AM and then Jimmy Fallon's repeat at 3 AM or other local programming before Early Today leading to in some markets, 4:30/5 AM Morning News. I know that in the Portland, OR and Seattle, WA Markets, KING-TV (KING 5) and KGW air Early Today before the 4:30 AM Morning news. I think with Carson Daly's show being much more of a documentary now instead of a regular show with the band they once had. I feel that this move would be that Carson may be on either ABC or MNTV. MNTV may need something in order to boost their persona since I think since their Telenovela days in 2006, it has somewhat improved when MyNet picked up WWE Smackdown. Carson Daly would be a great fit for My Network TV.
