NBC on KSTS, Telemundo on KNTV

RabbitEars is saying KNTV and KSTS are putting their networks on each other's subchannels, possibly to extend their reach. KNTV (Mt San Bruno) has put Telemundo on RF 12.5 (VC 48.3) in 720p, while KSTS (Mt Allison) has NBC on RF 49.5 (VC 11.3), also in 720p.

Not exactly anything new. For a while, Fox had KTTV/11 duplicated on a subchannel of co-owned KCOP/13 while they were working out some coverage issues.

There are also co-ownership advantages (different licensees, but the same family) between KVMD/31, KXLA/44 and KJLA/57 down here in L.A., which results in duplication of subchannels among the three, including some simulcasts of the main .1 channels.
