NBC Pulls 'Animal Practice,' Replaces With 'Whitney'

THANK YOU! What a waste of a show on NBC. I'd rather see Seinfeld reruns!

Surprise anybody that Animal Practice aired at the wrong time.

You talk about airing things at the wrong time - I think the show was cursed from the start, thanks to that ill-timed "Practice" promo featuring a monkey doing gymnastics, airing during the Olympics right after a segment about gold medal winner Gabby Douglas (an African-American).

I refused to watch after NBC placed the show in the middle of TAPED Olympic Closing Ceremony coverage. Good Riddance, Animal Practice.

Up against Survivor, it had no chance.
On Friday, up against that REALLY stupid show "What would you do?" it would have done really well.

Let's see... Someone pours something on the floor and then slips on it. What would you do?? WELL DUH???
NOT ONCE DID THAT SHOW EVER PROMOTE THE FACT THAT THE (store security) CAMERAS ARE ALWAYS WATCHING!!!!

When NBC over promotes a show by having pop-up adds during your shows for weeks on end, airs promos for the show during nearly every break, promotes the show like its the best thing since sliced bread and angers viewers by putting an episode on during during the olympics forcing viewers to wait until late night to see the rest of the closing ceremonies, usually means they have a real stinker on their hands. I refused to watch it because I was sick of it before it even aired. NBC is not doing themselves any favors by ruining my viewing pleasure with so much screen clutter and annoying promos for a show that looked like crap. Except for Tarzan, I've learned never to watch a show with a monkey in it. Either the show is canceled after the first or second season, as with Friends or they dump the monkey.

The irony here is the show that is replacing Animal Practice; Whitney, was the show the Vancouver Olympics ads bombarded viewers with.

I think "Animal Practice" might be well suited for viewers on TBS. Just look what they have did for "Cougar Town"; TBS has acquired that show from ABC, along with the off-network rerun rights as well. TBS knows what they're looking for inside of a great show because it's home to "Family Guy", "The Big Bang Theory", "Conan", and several Tyler Perry shows & movies.

None of those shows had a monkey in the cast. Remember B.J. and the bear. It lasted only 2 seasons. not sure if the monkey was at fault. But the addition of a monkey or other critter (remember "Scortch?") usually means gimmick.

TBS is no stranger to airing shows with animals.

"Mr. Smith" had an even shorter life. But half the scenes used some robot/puppet chimp whenever Mr. Smith had to talk. ("Mr. Ed" and the old "Speaking of Animals" shorts were more convincing.)

The monkey was the best thing about Animal Practice.

Is Tyler Labine the new Ted McGinly? Seems like every show he's on dies a quick death. (I'm thinking of "Reaper".)

You know, having her on 'Malibu Country' isn't a half bad idea now that she is presumably available.

I'm looking forward to that show.

"Reaper" lasted a full season, if I'm correct. "Sons of Tucson", which I enjoyed, did not.

Someone please tell me that last week's "30 Rock" was a rerun. My TiVo didn't record it and all I saw was the ending before "Guys with Kids".

Nope, it was the conclusion of the previous Thursday's episode. Actually quite funny, and the comments on our society were all too true.
