That's right folks. The network has cancelled her "Apprentice" spinoff today(November 14th). The last airing will be December 21st.

Not surprised. I read a week or two ago that this show is ranking in the 70's. And I hear Donald's show ain't doing much better. I am sure this will be the last season for that show, too.

How's her daytime talk show doing? If the cancellation of her Apprentice spinoff is any indication,I would say if her talk show is doing poorly, her comeback to TV has hit rock bottom.

Actually her daytime show seems to be doing well and her empire is still raking in the dough. In other words they were immuned from her ill-fated prime-time attempt.

Personally I think Ms. Stewart was more suited for daytime than nighttime.

Re: NBC: "Sorry Martha, but you don't fit in...."

Even if it had been renewed for another series during the second half of the season, this first "Apprentice: Martha Stewart" would have ended with on December 21st anyway.

Although the ratings for "The Apprentice: Donald Trump" are down, I do expect he'll be back for a Spring series. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if his ratings go up.

Due to NBC's broadcast of the Winter Olympics, the next series of Trump's "Apprentice" probably won't start until Thursday, March 2nd (the Thursday after the end of the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy; the Games run February 10th through 24th) and continue through May 18th (the final Thursday of both the May "sweeps" and the 2005/2006 television season). Likely, in order to get the finale during the May sweeps, there may be a couple of two-hour episodes (with two tasks and two contestants getting fired; each task/firing filling up one of the two hours) or episodes where more than one contestant gets "fired" (assuming that the next series has the usual sixteen "candidates").

Yes, Trump has already been filming for the next season. My friend saw him filming in New Jersey.

So, probably Starting Over will be dropped on the NBC O&Os, for the Megan Mullaly show.

I hope Scrubs is brought back somewhere to NBC primetime. Maybe Biggest Loser will replace the Apprentice: MS timeslot. I'm afraid NBC might look for another reality show, dump Scrubs badly (remember, A Different World after Cosby left the network), as they have enough expensive programming shows, and the show didn't prove to be a ratings winner, and will just get costlier. Maybe, desperate ABC should pick up Arrested Dev., and Scrubs, as they have less to offer as a network still.

Scrubs is back in January.

What Will Replace Martha's "Apprentice"? (Was: Re: NBC: Sorry Martha, but you don't fit in....)

> "Scrubs" is back in January.

I think there is a slight chance that "Scrubs" will have a short season of twelve episodes broadcast over six weeks (back-to-back first run episodes in the Wednesday 9-10 P.M. (ET/PT) hour being vacated by "Apprentice: Martha Stewart") from January 4th through February 8th, as "filler" prior to the Olympics.

After the Winter Olympics (February 10th-26th), something else would fill that hour.

More likely, come late December or early January, "West Wing" (which has been doing very poorly in it's new Sunday-night timeslot; in fact, it won't be back until after the November sweeps end) will get moved back to it's old timeslot of Wednesdays at 9 P.M. (ET/PT).

However, this will probably be "West Wing"'s final season anyway, given that the administration of the President Bartlett character is about to end, and the show's major plotline this season is about the election of his successor. The logical way to end the series would be for Bartlett's succesor to be sworn-in at the conclusion of the final episode of this season-------but only after Bartlett has one last crisis to deal with in the final hours of his Presidency.

Re: NBC: "Sorry Martha, but you don't fit in...."

I wonder if what contributed to "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart"'s cancellation might have been either of the following:

(1) Martha Stewart is one of those people who you either really love or really hate (much like Howard Cosell was on "Monday Night Football" during the 1970's). There seems to be no middle ground.

(2) Martha Stewart spent several months in jail thanks to her being convicted last year of several charges in an insider-trading scanbdal (although it should be noted that she was acquitted of the major charge, which could have sent her behind bars for twenty years).

There are some people in this country who assume celebrities to be guilty-as-you-know-what when charged and continue to have this opinion even if that star is acquitted (read: O.J. Simpson, Robert Blake). Even after they serve their time or have charges dropped, these people may still think of such celebrities as crooks that they "wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole", and this goes to watching them on TV.

Re: NBC: "Sorry Martha, but you don't fit in...."

I think that The Apprentice is really Donald's vehicle. Expanding the franchise with another personality wasn't a plan.

I dont think it has to do with a "if you love or hate her" decision.. I just think the show is lame.. the contestants are lame.. the whole show is soft. I could careless that she went to prison.. and I personally dont hate or like her.. she is just there.. just her show is boring.<P ID="signature">______________
