Anyone know why 1530 is running NBC sports net udpates? Heard a couple Monday.

Maybe they are migrating over to NBC sports or including some of their content in their daily schedule. Who knows, they could be getting comped for it.

When were these updates heard. I know here in indianapolis Fox Sports Affiliate WNDE carries NBC Sports Radio from 10pm to 1am. So it wouldnt shock me if 1530 is doing that.

speaking of which has 1530 totally done away with the Brokered preacher yet

CC and the previous owner Federated Media have made money off that huge night sgnal selling that time for years. I'd say they make as much income as they do from ESPN Radio.

ESPN pays to be on 1530?

They stilll run Brother Stair at night along with Roy Masters 3-4 am.

And get paid a decent penny, doing it.

I can't see this practice ever going away. Brother Stair has survived every format 1530 has thrown out there even though he doesn't fit most any of them.

I remember when ESPN moved to 1530 from the weaker 1360 and reading they paid Clear Channel money to be on a bigger signal. Not sure how long the contract was.

I would suggest that they are airing the updates in an effort to keep another station from becoming a full time NBC Sports affiliate. I would also suggest CC told two things to Dial Global...which syndicates NBC Sports:

1)Give us NBC Sports and we'll continue to clear the Super Bowl and Final Four on 700.

2)Put NBC Sports and your other programming on another Cincinnati station and you will never get any Reds, Bengals, UC or Xavier audio from 700. They used that threat very effectively against ESPN Radio when they pulled MLB from 1360 in the early 2000's. Caused very loud arguments at corporate level that ended with ESPN being on 1530.

FSR/ESPN flipped frequencies on 2/15/10

At least the threat of Reds' audio in #2 is no longer valid. The Reds retain the rights to their games now.
