NBC Sports Radio

I would be interested in hearing from someone who listens to a station airing NBC's new 24 Hour All Sports format on what you think of it?

Please rate the shows?

The network doesn't have great clearance nationwide.

They do have some interesting shows though. The McNabb/Malone combination will be great during football season, but why two NFL guys in afternoon drive? Why not onw NFL guy and a guy from another sport or a professional sports broadcaster? The show will likely be too one dimensional.

Either way, they'll have to get this cleared in more large markets for it to succeed.

Some are only carrying certain shows, not the full lineup. Carriage of this network falls well short of what CBS Sports Radio, FSR and ESPN have achieved. However, it's a fairly new network and they'll get more coverage with time.

No coverage in Los Angeles or Chicago. Can't see how it would be around long. Listening online now, but how many will do that? I wonder if it will last as long as NBC's News and Information Service.

KFWB in Los Angeles carries 3 NBC Sports Radio shows: Amani & Eytan, Erik Kuselias and Jason Page.

NBCSR might want to add KFWB to its affiliate listing on the website.

I wonder if NBC will leverage Sunday Night Football to its radio lineup when the current deal with Dial Global expires?

I realize that's a NFL decision, but NBC may hold sway in this regard when negotiating for the TV rights.

Broadcasting actual sporting events is what separates the men from the boys in sports radio, so both CBS and NBC will have to pick up some radio deals in this regard to be viable long term, IMO. CBS has less of a challenge since they have a proven draw in Jim Rome, but NBC needs a shot of such credibility for its sports radio lineup.

ESPN has national coverage of the World Series. Dial Global has most of the rest of the major sports. I don't know who has the National NHL playoff radio rights, if anyone. That could be a place to start.

ESPN also has the NBA Finals. It was my understanding that the NHL moved to satellite radio. Dial Global RUNS and distributes NBC so it's all in the same company. They try and force NBC down your throat if you want the NFL this year. I'm pretty sure that Dial Global has the primetime NFL through 2017 isn't it?

Hey UMfan... Dial Global is syndicating the NBC Sports Network. So essentially they are already using the NFL package they currently have (Sunday night, Monday Night, Playoffs, Superbowl) to get more clearance for the actual Radio Network Shows.
