NBC takes full control of Sprout

Many PBS stations run in the neighborhood of 10 hours (give or take) of kids shows. Sesame Street, Curious George, Arthur, et al...they're still pretty well known for kids shows, to be fair.

I forgot one thing the other issue was that PBS pulled out of sprout was because most of its audience who watch kids shows tended to watch online via PBS Kids app/site or tended to watch it on a local PBS affiliate that tended to air more Childrens show in its lineup and DVR them. Example KQED+ 54 in San Francisco/ San Jose they tend to air more Kids programming from PBS and Arts/lifestyle and UK shows, While KQED 9 is more known for Documentaries, News and Talk shows.
 
Not really a surprise since PBS is more known for news and Documentaries these days not so much with Kids Shows.

I guess it depends on your perspective. Folks under the age of 13 may be more familiar with the programs aimed at them than folks over that age.
