NBC to launch affiliate in Watertown

The Watertown area will have an NBC affiliate that is expected to begin broadcasting on Dec. 1.

“Watertown is a great community with a lot of civic pride and wonderful people. We have been very impressed with Watertown, and we are very proud of the fact that NBC thinks the same,” said Louis Wall, President and CEO of SagamoreHill Broadcasting, in a statement.

The broadcasting company, based in Augusta, Ga., said it has picked Mark Gaines, who has led the efforts at Stephens Media Group - Watertown since February 2008, to serve as the new NBC affiliate’s general manager.

The affiliate has plans to begin a news department in early 2018.

Mr. Wall said that the station will be on satellite and cable “very soon,” but said agreements have not been finalized.
