NBC Trims The Tonight Show, Leno takes Pay Cut

I think Evanier hit the mark. Jay appears to be a stand up guy (no pun intended)and this story reflects how times are changing for network television. That 'The Tonight Show' has lasted a half century is a major achievement and testament to the sesnibility of its hosts.

I think if you read the article, the full story is that the show had been staffed and paid as though it was still a prime time show. This change is appropriate, given the lower advertising revenues in late night.

Leno lives mostly off of his stand-up money, and just stashes his NBC checks in the bank, so he's obviously not hurting for cash. I've never been of a fan of his, but a lot of people who deal with him say he's a good guy (just don't tell that to many in the comedy world, or even a certain morning shock jock on satellite radio).

I'm sure his cars will be worth a heck of a lot more than what $$ he has invested in them. An investment he can tinker with, drive, enjoy and personally take care of. Then in time, sell them for a very nice profit.
