NBC-Universal Buys Opry Stake

Back in the 1940s, the Grand Ole Opry was heard on the NBC radio network. Now, NBC Universal has purchased a stake in Opry Entertainment:

Part of this may help distribution of its Circle Network. Plus the two companies have shared interests in music and certain artists. Such as Blake Shelton is a member of the Opry, partner in a restaurant chain with the Opry, and is also a coach on NBC's The Voice.

Circle is carried on Peacock, in their live channels section.

My favorite thing about Circle is when they join the 650 WSM studio in action. They air WSM's "Coffee, Country, and Cody", famous for Country music stars hanging out, and doing a song or two with just an acoustic guitar. The banter you hear between Cody and the stars is real down home stuff, like two old friends joking and shooting the breeze. That WSM is a music institution that Country music artists are very fond of. Blake Shelton, for example, is one of their biggest supporters, he regularly stops by and hangs out on air with the hosts
