NBC Weekday Olympic Coverage and Local Affiliates' Syndie Programming

Although I'm at work during the day, I can't help but wonder: With the London Olympics being the first Summer Games since the DTV transition, how are NBC affiliates in your area handling the preemptions of daytime syndicated shows for NBC's Olympic coverage? Unless contractually prohibited from doing so, are the normal syndicated offerings (e.g., Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray, even Jeopardy in some areas) being temporarily moved to a subchannel (which IMO should be what happens), or are they bumped completely?

Neighboring NBC affiliate (and one of two whose signal covers the area where I grew up) KWQC-6 Davenport, IA/Quad Cities posted this linked disclaimer on their website. "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and "Rachael Ray" will be bumped entirely in the Quad Cities during the Olympics. (even though KWQC has a weather subchannel).

I am sure that similar actions will occur in Peoria (WEEK-25) and my local affiliate WAND-17 Decatur, and in those areas the likes of "Nate Berkus," "Dr. Phil," and the ilk will likely be unseen during the Summer Olympics.

Are there any NBC stations that are punting their normal daytime syndicated offerings to one of their subchannels during the Olympics (which would be a great idea IMO), if that's even possible?

Since everything is in repeats except the newsmags in the dead of July (or like Berkus is, completely done and over with), it really doesn't matter. The syndicators just take it and will be back in two weeks, and I doubt anyone is really annoyed at all. Days of Our Lives has their plot frozen for two weeks and the only people missing the noon news are those looking to promote their pancake breakfast or community theater.

Locally, my NBC station only programs 90 minutes of syndication anyways because of a news-heavy schedule; Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood Live. Live is pre-empted, Access airs at 3:30am before the 4am local news starts. Same with their sister station in Green Bay. The pre-prime slot is also pre-empted because of the Olympic Zone show.

Not quite what you're looking for, but WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio had to air the annual OVAC Football Game, a HUGE event that is held on Wheeling Island, on ME-TV instead this year, thanks to the Olympics. Fortunately, for those able to do so, the game was steamed on their website.
