NBC13 to add Retro Television Network on digital subchannel

In a weird way, this might be the best replacement for The Tube music video channel--assuming the baby boomers who remember RTN's shows actually make the upgrade to digital TV.

*sigh*

As if NBC 13's HD programming is bad enough looking, one more subchannel will make it worse. :(

Didn't My68 have some sort of music video service at one time on 68.2 that they actually promoted on their main signal? It may have come and gone very quickly.

The Tube (before it shut down) might have actually affiliated with WABM. For some reason, I assumed that they had mostly been partnered with NBC stations.

68.2 was The Tube, but I'm not sure how long that was on. Sinclair had been putting The Tube on their digital subchannels, like Raycom did, but had some sort of problem with E/I requirements and pulled the network; later, The Tube shut down.

WKRG down in Mobile is launching it too...I heard sometime this summer. They will be putting it on 5.2 and bumping their weather radar to 5.3.

WSFA in Montgomery has it up and running on one of their subchannels as well.

Can anybody in the Anniston area see any of these subchannels? What do you need to view them (they are not carried on the local cable company's HD lineup)?

I'm not sure how the terrain will affect the signal, but you'll probably need an outdoor antenna on top of your roof or on a tower to get 13's digital signal out there in Anniston. I'm pretty sure that WVTM is broadcasting at their full authorized power, digitally, at this point.
