NBC4.TV NOW KNBC.COM

Just happened to notice the end of the Channel 4 News at 11 PM tonight. When did this change? They have so heavily promoted NBC4.tv for many years now. I believe it was KNBC.com before it became NBC4.tv. Channel 4 has never been consistent in how they identify themselves (Channel 4 News, NBC4.tv, KNBC - all used at one time) so this does not surprise me.

I'm glad they went back to a full hour of news at 11 AM, moving KNBC produced "Your L.A." to 3 PM replacing "Queer Eye..." which at times came in 8th place in its time slot (as predicted). Also good to see Paula Madison out as GM at KNBC. She's done nothing to improve this failing station and, of course, gets a promotion. Would like to see the news director Robert Long exit as well. I hate his policy of no live car chases. Another reason why the Channel 4 News is now solidly in second place and falling.

Probably the .tv site wasn't getting as many hits as their .com address. NBC4.com is already in use at the NBC 0/0 in Wash. D.C.

Or maybe the .com was a cheaper domain to register than .tv

Need to save some money somewhere to pay for the HD studios :)

Hasn't WNBC's URL been always http://www.wnbc.com? I guess they are finally trying to coordinate the West Coast Flagship to the Flagship of all NBC stations. It's just like KNXT became KCBS-TV. BTW, Why didn't they do it sooner, like 20 years before?

Because you couldn't have call letters in two different markets. KCBS-AM San Francisco lays claim to them. KNXT calls were legendary calls in the market just as the AM remains KNX. KNXT's "The Big News" was the first hour long newscast and at that time KNXT was a huge number 1.

Oddly enough I heard more than one reporter or anchor in L.A. slip up on Friday and say KNXT rather than KNXV/Phoenix. Of course, I heard mentions of calls other than KTVK/Phoenix, also.

I think the hesitation is that HD would show too many wrinkles for Paul Moyer & Coleen Williams. It would also show just how bad Furnell Chapman's toupee is, and it would expose all of Chuck Henry's pock marks. I purposely left Fritz Coleman off the list as analog highlights his wrinkles just fine already.
