NBC5 HD

So NBC5 went HD this week...and nobody knows! I can't think of a more poorly managed unveiling of something significant at your station than this. There have been few, if any, promos on them going HD.

But actually watching one of their newscasts in HD, maybe I understand why they're not letting anyone in on the secret. Their new set is terrible...boring as hell...just a lot of blue. And some little monitors in the background..nothing visually stimulating AT ALL. The new weather center is ok...an improvement from before, but nothing earth-shattering. None of their graphics or supers or music is new. The only way you would know you're watching them in HD is the little logo at the bottom of the screen: NBC5 HD.

What a wasted oppotunity. CBS11 must be licking their chops.

Another fine mess at the house of mike burgandy..er..snyder

Really poor compared to WFAA. So far all the ENG and remote news reports I have seen are still standard definition.

In the bright light at the end of tunnel and the sounds of Ducas being thrown on the tracks, NBC had a real opportunity to capitalize on the HD switch in the middle of friggin sweeps no less, and yet, the train just went the other way, ran Burgandy the heck over and now all you see his plaid jacket with the shiny elbow patches.

CBS is going to maul them... at least they better. With the lack of promotion and ballyhoo of hype ratio, it ranks up there with what was in Al Capone's vault. ;D

I have a feeling it'll be an interesting sweeps come november.....

In addition, This is the Same NBC5 who refuses to cover the whole local "To Catch A Predator" fiasco and ask the questions that need to be asked, leaving that up to byron harris and WFAA, who btw, should get a columbia journalism prize for taking up this story. When the media gets into cahoots with law enforcement and enters the business of playing judge and jury, we have far worse issues as society as a whole.
