NBC's NFL Pregame Show thoughts

I know it's their first one in many years, but NBC fell flat on their corporate faces tonight.

Isn't the pregame show supposed to be about football? Rascal Flats (whoever they are) and Puffy Diddy (or whatever he calls himself this week) have nothing whatsoever to do with the National Football League. Hopefully this lame "entertainment" won't carry over to Sunday nights.

Pink ain't Hank. That intro was flat-out bad.

Isn't Bob Costas actually supposed to do something? He was obviously caught off-guard when they turned the camera on him.

Thank God for Michaels' & Madden's play-calling saving this potential train-wreck once the game starts.

Agreed on all counts. Just gimme the freakin' game...and GO DOLPHINS! :)

It's the same thing ABC's been doing on opening night for a few years.

the song they used right efore the game I was [lesantly surprised with. I was expecting some hip hop crap like on the commercials promoting the games.

And yeah, NBC had no say in the pregame. That was the NFL all the way.

Speaking of NBC's whole NFL coverage, I thought having the 4 pre-game/halftime guys inside the stadium was a mistake. At one point Bob Costas had to literally yell in order for you to hear him because it was so loud. Also those oversized plush microphones they were using looked goofy.

I hadnt paid much attention to the opening game until I just happend to tune in at 8:38 eastern..right in time for the kickoff...How sad I missed all the ---- ok, I can't lie. I was thrilled...However, the audio left much to be desired. Were it not for the already chewed up turf of Heinz House, I didnt know if they were in Pittsburgh or Miami. I couldnt hear the crowd at all over Lord Al and Saint John....however, when they cut to the Four Faces, the noise blew through my speakers like Fran Drescher and Joan Rivers at a coffee klatch.

Methinks Lord Al and Saint John dont want the peons to be heard anywhere NEAR their rhetoric....and what are the chances Cris Collinsworth ever shows up in the booth unannounced again?

Slim and none, and slim just left town.

Poofy red mic screens? The NBC Sports hallmark dating back to Curt Gowdys days with the Peacock.. Been around since the 70s at least.

My review in verse..

AM I READY FOR SOME FOOTBALLLLL!!
I wish I was last night,
Tho it was great to see NBC back in action
I thought the pre-game concert was a FRIGHT!

The "Sybill" of entertainment, the man formerly known as Sean Combs
should've stayed home!
frankly I cant wait for the rebroadcast on NBC's Spanish language sister
yea..those guys at TELEMUNDO

Bob Costas looked lost for a moment
he was searching for a clue
as if to ask his producer "when is this **** through?"

Al and John looked stoic as the evening progressed
and ANDREA KREMER was awesome doing the sidelines
NOW she was at her best

No local TV crews on the sidelines,
that rule really sucks
the sidelines looked a bit bare to me
except for a glimpse of some cheerleaders
and seeing "THE BUS"

The graphics were tweaked just right
best visuals ive seen
made me long for the old MNF days
with howard and the team

the pictures and play by play, meshed with shear delight
but one thing I just did not enjoy
Was Pink's theme for NBC NFL SUNDAY NIGHT
which made me cover my ears
and shout OY!

it was sung to the tune of joan jetts "I hate myself for loving you"
which to me just didnt fit,
If she wanted to top Hank Jr.
that song just wasnt it

Hank Jr's is a song,
that welcomes all the world to see
the bast damn night of football
and to make it a party!

So all in all I have to say,
that NBC did good
A B+ I give for their return
No beat was lost but still..
That was only a special game...
THE BIG DAY IS BUT OVER THE HILL
