NBC's Super Bowl XX 'Intermission'

That's the first time I've seen that since it was live! Sadly, I no longer have a copy of that game (I have XXI to XLVI with varying quality). Before playing the clip, I thought that minute was of regular silence. It wouldn't have been for the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, since that happened two days later.

There was an amazing amount of hype over this

``We wanted to break all the cliches and one of them is the pregame show is too long and boring,`` Weisman said. ``That`s one of the reasons we wanted to have an intermission.

``Now it`s so ironic. We have this great pregame show planned and people are going to be sitting around at Super Bowl parties, waiting for the spectacle of the minute.

``I can just see everything stopping at parties. Someone yells, `Here it comes.` And then everyone stares at a blank screen.``

and this is EXACTLY what happened.
