Update the leader of NBC has reportely been tested positive for COVID-19.
NBCUniversal Jeff Shell revealed on Thursday that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
“I recently have been feeling under the weather and just learned that I have tested positive for Covid-19,” Shell said in a staff memo. “Although the virus has been tough to cope with, I have managed to work remotely in LA and am improving every day.”
Shell becomes the first studio chief to test positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, which has sickened nearly 500,000 people around the world and killed more than 22,000. In the U.S., positive cases have reached 70,000. Universal Musical Group CEO Lucian Grange was hospitalized last week after testing positive for the virus.
Shell was named CEO of NBCU in January.
