Need a cheap or free music scheduler

Hi all.

Does anyone know of a half decent, fairly cheap or free music scheduling program? I have a client who needs one for a few months until they can get a Selector license.

Thanks!

StationPlaylist is inexpensive and while it ain't Selector, it ain't half bad. Most of the other apps are costlier will require a bit of setup time.

Is Natural Music any good?

I've had good luck with Natural Music. Their tech support is decent and once parameters are set it runs well.

Of course, if you want old school:

A typewriter
A whole bunch of 3 x 5 cards
A recipe box

The really good PDs would shuffle the cards daily!

....and the sneaky disc jockeys would put marks on the top of the cards indicating the cool songs :)...or at least that is what I read in Reader's Digest.

You might give Station Playlist Creator a try. Only $100 and works great.

A M E N on Station Playlist. Just don't be surprised when you're not the first one to drop the Scheduler plan & stick with SPL. Best kept secret in great automation. If you want to hear the SPL Creator and Studio combo in action, www.superoldies1580.com is streaming it around the clock.

I get a couple of emails a month about StationPlaylist after reading my review for Radio World. I hope Ross has been getting a few more sales as I get nothing but positive feedback from those who have tried the demo after reading the article. For the money it's hard to beat!

OK, I'll add my two cents worth ...

I'd been using MusicGen (the "lite" version) and was trying to port that to StationPlaylist.

When Ross came out with version 4 of Creator, I stopped trying! Can't touch it for the price.

I agree that Station Playlist is nice... I wish they would modify the layout some so that it's easier for live-assist, something similiar to the layout of Scott's, Mediatouch, or TuneTracker. I prefer programmed events on one side and hotkeys on the other. Perhaps a suggestion for the next version?

And don't forget all the :00, :02, 03, intro times that nobody played. :D
