Need help setting up some Barix Exstreamer 1000's

I have a pair of Barix Exstreamer 1000 units that I am trying to set up and so far I have only been able to connect to one another using the Standard Firmware. I have a Barix Exstreamer 100 and Instreamer 100 but the reason I purchased the 1000 units was because I wanted balanced audio in and out and also the ability to use the relays. I loaded the latest ABCL RTP STL Full Duplex Application firmware package - version 1.11 (_STLv1.11_abcl_kit_va020_20090326.zip) and I tried to set up the parameters to both the studio and transmitter facilities according to what was recommended in the read me file but I have not been able to get them to talk to each other and relay audio. I did notice on the Simple (RTP) unidirectional STL set up under the Transmitter (fixed IP) section it states to set Streaming Mode to Never but I don't have that option (or at least it would not allow me to down arrow and select it). Do I need to load another firmware on the transmitter end or am I missing something? Do I need to load a custom file? I didn't think they would be so difficult to set up right out of the box but so far I am stumped.

FYI - What I am trying to accomplish here is the ability to send (and/or receive) MPEG1/44.1kHz stereo from one studio location to another location that is about 45 miles away using fixed IP addresses with the option of utilizing the relay ports. If I have to use another audio format other then MPEG1 to make this work, that is fine, but I only have an upload speed of 256 Kbps so it can't be uncompressed.

Any input or a step by step how to would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

While I'm no expert, I don't believe the Exstreamer 1000 with the relay option supports MPEG.

There is a company, DataNab, (www.Datanab.com) that is a distributor of the Exstreamer. There is a guy named Adam there that seems to know more about the 1000's than the factory. He may be able to help you.

Did you try calling the manufacturer's support line?

Yes. I have had no luck at all getting a human on the phone. Every time I call Barix and select the tech support department, I get a mailbox message saying the mailbox is full. I can't even leave a message for a call back.

Don't you have to download the client streaming firmware?

I tried that firmware also. It was not what I needed. The streaming firmware is more for turning the 1000 into a stream receiver. Also the relays are not supported in the Streaming Client firmware.

I'm having Switzerland give you a call...

Why would Switzerland need to call me? Is this something out of the ordinary to do? I thought that was what the Barix 1000's (in the broadcast industry version of the firmware) were meant to do?

How would they get a hold of me without my number? lol

I had you confused with a similar caller. The firmware out there now is brand new and I haven't even had the time to test/play with it. As you can tell from my mailbox, I've been QUITE busy-mostly dealing with customers who know less about IT/routers/firewalls then a tree stump does (example: I had one guy who plugged his two units into separate routers on his desktop and then wondered why he could only get into the unit that was plugged into the same router as his computer "well, they both have 192.168 addresses-don't they cross routers?")

I got my problem resolved. There was a new custom1.cob file released today on the annuncicom @ yahoogroups by Andrew Kazantsev. The file is V1.15

V1.15, RTP/BRTP STL full/half-duplex tunnel for uncompressed audio and half-duplex for MPEG (line/mic/SPDIF input, connection monitor, USB autoplay, relay messages, audio control from studio, fading, 2COM-UDP/TCP gateways/tunnels, door intercom, proper remote Inputs -> local Relays, SNMP/e-mail, uni/broad/multicast, UDP control for connection redirection and volume, WEB config autocontrol/wizard/doc, etc), demands ABCL FW V0.16+, allows up to 44.1 kHz PCM 16 bit stereo full-duplex for 2 IPAMs
