Need of MP3 recorder software . timed recording "Tivo style"

Hi All I'm in need for mp3 recorder software program with a timer start and stop at time settings "Like a Tivo" for internet radio recording, any good free program available. or cheap shareware will be fine too.

Well, I know Audition/Cool Edit can do that, but you'd have to pay for either of those (providing you're planning on going the legal route, as all should, of course). I'm not sure if Audacity has a timed recording feature or not, but you might want to give it a go and find out.

If you are using a Mac, Audio HiJack from Rogue Amoeba Software will do that easily. I think the price is around $60.

I agree, Total Recorder works great. I use it daily! Not expensive either. Pull the file up after recording in Cool Edit for editing.

Thanks for the tips guys. I just got a copy of Total Recorder , it's awesome ,I just finished doing some tests using the timer settings,I was using Mp3DirectCut through my task manager. what a pain in a neck that was,I'd had to be there to start the recording. Also I tried Cool Edit Pro 2 with the timer settings.it was better, but.it was A pain to save 3 to 4 hour wav files on to the hard drive at once as it's been recorded.especially on a old computer. Thanks again.

Cool Edit does not record audio streams well and has not timer function.

I use Applian (applian.com) ReplayAV and I recommend it highly.
- It records from and saves to multiple audio formats.
- It can download audio (rather than play and record through the sound card) which lets you record multiple programs at one time.
- They have a media guide which lets you search for stations, specific programs and podcasts (yes, it also does podcasts) and enter them into ReplayAV with a click (like TiVo).
- It has a URL finder that let's you capture the "real" audio stream URL and by-pass station websites and their in-browser web players. Instead you can play an audio stream through the audio player of your choice.
- They include a customized version of Windows Media Player with speech compression (speed up the program without the chipmunk effect) and a skip ahead (or back) feature (like DVR's have to let you jump ahead during commercials).

Here's a foot note I forgot to mention earlier. "Freeamp" is the good for recording mp3 shoutcast streams, also it's easy to use on timer mode set through the computers task manager.but it only record the same bitrate as the stream coming in.so's the stream is 128kbps it only record it at 128kbps.
