Need opinions regarding programming on my station.

So far, I've developed two pieces of programming on my internet-only station, Merge98FM. One is a one-hour program called "Samples and Ripoffs Exposed" where I play the hits that borrowed and the hits that got borrowed as well as expose haunting similarities between current songs and older ones (i.e "Cool"-Gwen Stefani>"You're In Love"-Wilson Philips), and another piece of programming I came up with is the "After Dark Downer," basically two hours of slow jams, slow rock, and love songs Sunday to Wednesday.

Basically, I've run short on ideas and I need some help. Merge98FM is somewhat of an Alternative/Rhythmic AC/Country hybrid, all vocals all the time. What I'm really trying to get at is how do superstations like Eye 97, WRAJ-Long Island and RadioMaxMusic get all the listeners they get? Any tricks of the trade I should follow, because my ratings are suffering even despite new programming. Giveaways necessary?

If you want to check it out, my webpage is www.merge98fm.us. Just click on the Listen Live button and follow the directions, or click on "About The Founder" and go to the big Merge98FM logo in the middle of my MySpace profile. Just trying to find out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks y'all.

The answer is simple. Those stations have DJs. They may not get behind the mic, but they're there nevertheless.

Cheers :)

Radio? Uhh.....What's THAT?? :)

You just need to be patient. You aren't going to get huge numbers overnight. Get listed in as many directories as possible. Get the word out. That's how you get more listeners. And talk to your listeners. Mine told me they don't want DJs. They can get all of the song info in the stream, so what is a DJ going to add? Sure, there is additional info that a voice can add, but if the listener perception is that it is unwanted, don't mess with that. Remember, people online are looking for music. Music is everywhere and they will go find it where they have to.

Also, your logo is all junked up. There is no way that is looking good on those shirts. E-mail me if you want some help cleaning it up.
______________
