Wow...This is has never happened to me. I have a Job interview with another radio station that takes a 6 Hour Drive. How can I take a day off with at my current job? I really don't want to say Im going to a Funeral. Any advice? What if he says no?

Don't you have vacation days and personal days that you could use?
 
I think he means what kind of excuses can he get so that his boss will give him the day off in such "Short notice". Some stations have a policy like giving a week's notice for vacation days.
 
Call the boss...whisper the words "pork loaf" into the phone and play sfx of vomit hitting the floor. Works everytime. Or not.

If the interview is that important to you, grow some balls and
lie. Don't sweat the small stuff.

By the time I inform my boss I'm taking a day off, I have already asked around & found an available fill-in. One less thing for the boss to do makes life smoother. I wouldn't suggest lying, but I would say to be wise & say as little as possible [without looking suspiciously like the kid w/ his hand stuck in the cookie jar]. There's something to be said about not "putting all your cards on the table."
