Need suggestions for simple radio console

Folks:

I need to buy a small AES digital, BNC compatible radio board.

Must have:

*6-8 channels
*mix-minus ability
*small foot print
*simplicity of use
* $6k or less
*Not require Marconi and Edison in the same room to install.

Any thoughts? Specific brands, model numbers, links etc would be most appreciated. Time is of the essence.

Thank you.

Ted

"BNC compatible"??
Do you mean SP/DIF compatible? As opposed to AES3, which usually appears on XLR connectors?
Or something else?

If it were me, I'd just go with a simple analog mixer, like a mackie 1402VLZ-pro, but behringer might sell a model that has spidf digital. The 1402 manual is very thorough on how to create a mix-minus with the alt-3/4 bus. These make great prod room boards.

Check out the new Broadcast Tools ProMix 12: http://www.bswusa.com/assets/MFRPDFS/btoo_promix12.pdf
The new ProMix12 is a full-featured audio mixing console ideally suited for the typical broadcast studio or any similar application. It features inputs for three microphones and nine stereo line sources, two stereo mixing buses, a “mix-minus” output, a mono output, and comprehensive cue and monitoring systems. Other functions include an announce booth output with full duplex talkback, accurate audio level metering, remote control of microphone channels and remote-start facilities on all line input channels.

Wow, DAYRADIO! I'd never seen that BT console (must be pretty new)... Finally, a small broadcast console with 2 stereo busses! I want one!

how much is that D816,xmtr man? i have a mackie onxy 1220 in one of the prod rooms.fantastic preamps and built like a tank.,has fire wire capability, too.that broadcast tools board looks nice.

That is a great little console with big time features..and the cost is amazing!
The list is reasonable, the actual sales price is typically even lower, so call a dealer.
It's small and compact and has everything you'd need in a smaller operation.

The thing is...anymore, with almost everything on computer, all you need is channels for mic's, one for the computer output, and maybe one or two for a pre-selector of inputs like "network", "phone", "production room", "RPU"...so a 6 channel really will do it but with this one you get 12 so you can spread some of that out a little...

The Promix 12 was build for Harris a few years ago, so there are a few of them in the field. I played with one for a little while and thought it was OK, as long as it wasn't abused.

Anyone have any other suggestions? We're outfitting 3 prod rooms and want to use the same console/board in each.

We were going to use the Soundcraft Spirit ES, but they stopped making them. The thing had 2 mic input channels and 10 stereo inputs!!!

Allen and Heath make a more expensive model 2x, but they feature 8 stereo ins, I believe.

Help welcome. Our budget, probably a grand each. Not much, I know.
