Re: need to buy a converter in 3 days!! help!

I'm happy with the Insignia model I bought at Best Buy. I think it's actually made by Zenith, but with the Insignia brand stamped on to it. It allows for manual tuning and lets you monitor a signal strength meter at the same time. In that mode, I hit channel up to 33 and it automatically changes to "WFSB-DT 3-1" (I'm near Hartford). Say Vibe? Why the sudden need for a converter?

Re: need to buy a converter in 3 days!! help!

I have a small seasonal home in FLA and don't use it enough to justify cable. I'm waiting to see what the final allocations are before installing an antenna system for TV enjoyment and to occasionally DX,

Probably because he has the same problem I have, MY GOVT COUPONS EXPIRE TOMMORROW!!!!! At least vibe has two days, sigh, I have one day. Well, since we are in the topic, which is the tuner I would spend the least amount of money with a govt coupon, I don't care for features. Just a simple tuner. I can't find the RCA one anywhere. ANy ideas?

Re: need to buy a converter in 3 days!! help!

We sell the Magnavox model where I work for $49.87 pre-coupon (Wal-Mart).

Re: need to buy a converter in 3 days!! help!

Thanks to everyone for your help. I'm one of those who does everything at the last minute. Bought 2 Insignias at Best Buy for $60 each. Walmart (in a small town) didn't have any of the Mags in stock. Best Buy (in Worc, MA) had about 20 left in stock. Probably supply and demand.
A glinch in the coupon system is that the expiration date should never be on a Fri. Why not a Mon to give last minute shoppers a chance over the weekend?
For a person who still has 8 tracks and some old 4 tracks lying around, this is hi tech!

Re: need to buy a converter in 3 days!! help!

I got my Zenith from HH Gregg for $49.95, minus the $40 coupon, just a little over 10 bucks! The Zenith is a great product. BTW, don't believe the haters---digital TV is a big step forward---vastly improved reception and more channels in my area....

Re: need to buy a converter in 3 days!! help!

Also goes nicely with those DVD recorders, since half of them don't have their own tuner included internally anymore.
