Need VoxPro™ help

I have a VoxPro™ classic system running on a MAC G4 using ver 2.0 software.

Unfortunately, due to a hard disk crash and a misplaced CD, I am sans software.

Because I am in possession of the controller and the HASP dongle, I am licensed to use this software. All I need is a fresh copy of it to get up and running. Since Audion no longer supports this version or this platform they've been less than helpful in supplying me with the software to get back up and running and are instead trying to steer me to buy the PC version and continue to use my classic controller. Great idea, except my budget will not allow for this, at least in the short term, and I need to get up and running now.

Again, I am licensed to use version 2.0 for MAC VoxPro software, and it would be useless without the dongle anyway. You can actually download the current PC version of the software right from Audion's site for this reason as they know there's no way of using it without the dongle.

I realize I may be coming off a bit too explanative, but I just want to make it clear there would be no risk of a piracy accusation for providing me a copy of the software as it is useless to anyone without the requisite hardware. If anyone has a copy of version 2.0 for MAC that they could upload to me or link me to I would be greatly appreciative.

Hellllp! :)

The only thing I could suggest is you can find a copy of the now-defunct program Jasmine for Mac. If I remember correctly it was basically an improved version of VoxPro for the Mac that was released as Shareware. I downloaded it and the only problem I found is it can't deal with a date newer than 2005.

I checked my archives and I must have pitched my backup copies when I gave away my old Voxpro controller.

Thanks! I'll search for it right now, but if you run across the real deal, or anyone else does, please help a brother out. :)

No luck. Probably wouldn;t work with my controller anyway. :-(

I was able to download Jasmine for Mac via C-NET. I ran it on a Core 2 Duo Mac Mini running MacOS 10.5.8 without any problems other than having to set the clock back to 2006 (I don't know why the author thought nobody would use it years later?)

Since the software is no longer being developed you'll have to find a serial number for it. I actually had this back many moons ago and found it on an archive backup. The only other caveat is you'll have to be logged in as a user with admin privileges to install it (at least on 10.5) since it doesn't prompt the user for admin credentials during install. Otherwise it seems to operate as expected.

It's a shame that the program became abandoned as it was real similar to the old VoxPro on Mac and the shareware fee was pretty reasonable from what I recall.

Well, downloaded it and it won't run. Keeps telling me my clock is set wrong.

Spoke to tech support at Audion again today. Said they don't have an archive of 2.0 for Mac handy and have to dig it out of storage, which won't be until January. They encouraged me to find another VoxPro Mac user to get the software from. Now, if I could only find someone.

Gotta be someone out there that has this laying around. :-/

Yes, as I mentioned above, you would have to set your clock back before 2006 for it to work, but it does work with that one caveat.

Set it all the way back to 2004 and it still won;t launch. :-(

Maybe because I'm running 10.3.9? Can;t upgrade because of legacy ProTools hardware. As you can see, I can only afford the old stuff. :-(

Believe me, I understand. On my backup machine I use a dirt-old program called SoundEdit 16 which really only runs well under OS-9. While I muddle through with Audition on the Windows side I never really got as comfortable with it as I am with SoundEdit. I also ended up buying SoundBooth CS3 and CS4 but haven't made an effort to learn them since the old G4 with SoundEdit works great, albeit slow, for the tasks I need to do. What would we do without our legacy hardware and software?

I also send a query to Ric Ford's Macintouch info page in hopes that maybe somebody may be able to provide us MacHeads with a lead on a suitable replacement.
