Neil Rogers, RIP

From twitter just now:

@MrRadio610: It is with great sadness that Norm Kent, attorney and friend of the popular South Florida radio icon, Neil Rogers, announces his passing.

Sad to lose a radio legend. Rest in peace Neil

From a huge Neil fan in NJ: I loved his work for the past 20+ years, and listened online until his retirement. RIP Neil and condolences to his many fans in Florida!

Very Sad to Hear this news. Especially On The Eve of Christmas.
Our Prayers Are With Neil.

RIP Neal. I use to listen to you when you were on the air over here in the Ft Myers area. You always made my mornings go well and always brought a smile to my face. We sure need more like you on the air now a days. All we have here now is the same old syndicated right wing blather...I don't listen to talk radio any longer..nothing to hear.

RIP my friend

Rest In Peace Uncle Neil and give em' hell where ever you are! It was a pleasure to know you and to be able to pop into your studio at WINZ-AM before my broadcasts at I-95 was truly a treat. At least you're not suffering anymore. See ya on the flip side-

That's not the news any of us want to hear at Christmas time, although Neil would have loved all the attention he's getting from this thread, and I would love to think he's faking it, not to be I guess, but nice of everyone to take a little time to say something nice about Neil, he'll be missed and rest assured, nobody will ever replace him.........

One finale round of Neil Rodger's.......

One footnote regarding Neil Rodger's, the guy was legendary no doubt about it, and when he was on air no whole's bared, Neil had everybody in his cross hair's, but if Neil could come back for one finale radio show, his topic, and I know he'd get a kick out of it, one finale laugh for Neil, "Hi I'm Neil Rodger's, I'm Jewish, and Yes I died on Christmas Eve," For Neil, and all of us, that would have been his best show ever..........!

R.I.P Neil Rogers. Love him or hate him, he was a Miami radio fixture and would say almost anything. The man had no fear. He'd sometimes make me mad, sometimes laugh and many times gasp in awe of what I'd just heard on commercial radio. He held nothing back, from his sexuality to his love of pot and all things Amsterdam. A little piece of Miami has died and South Florida will be a slightly lesser place because of it.

Neil, may all the gold in heaven be from Acapulco.

Anyone else notice WSVN 7 is not saying anything about his death? Not even on their site. Looks like after all the years of ripping them they won't even do a piece on his passing.

I guess that says a lot about WSVN; I too just checked the website and saw nothing on their "front page", so put Neil Rogers in their website search and came up with zero matches.

RIP Neil and know that the legimate media in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale market are covering you're leaving us and this world all too soon.

The honor gets thrown around so often that it is barely worth saying, but Neil was, by far, the best talk show host I have ever heard. Neil offered everything that Howard Stern offered, but with a trillion times the intelligence. Neil's ability to walk into a studio, and run a show that was based completely on his own stream-of-consciousness, was unparalleled. I have never met another human being that could do what Neil did, nevermind another radio host.

An earlier poster mentioned that a part of Miami died with Neil. That comment was fitting. How many of you have met snowbirds or others who arrogantly claim that South Florida has no culture of its own? Well, Neil was our culture. He might have hated living here, but he was one of us. He represented our intelligence and our way of life. His commentary on South Florida was second-to-none.

Hank Goldberg put it best. No one will ever match Neil's talent, wit, or radio ability.

Love him or hate him he was truly one of a kind. He certainly made his mark and shouted what others dared not whisper.

Watched WSVN at 4pm today, they reported it at the end of the first block of news.

RIP Neil...God. He was one of a kind. He could've been a national radio talker, but I'm glad he represented South Florida.

You must not watch the same WSVN/7 I do. Charles Billi and Robbin Simmons did mention Neils passing during their broadcast yesterday.

As we remember Neil today, let's recall the hundreds of thousands dollars that he annually raised for local charities at this time of the year. He would start off each fund raising drive with a substaintial personal contribution.
