Neil Rogers

I am a fan of Neil and South Florida talk radio. Been searching for audio from the 1980's and 90's. Spent the past few months digitizing cassettes of shows from WINZ, WZTA, and WIOD. The shows have been posted on YouTube, you can see the list of shows at NeilRogers.org.

If you have audio of Neil or Miami talk hosts please let me know.

We are trying to preserve as much Neil audio as we can.

you are a great american! Thank you for this.

Great post. I remember when Neil was on WLAC-AM in Nashville, just after their flip from Top 40 to Talk and I was a teenager. My mom and I were listening and the first caller. I can't repeat the question or answer on here in 2013, but my mom never turned that radio station on again and I couldn't stop listening to him while he lasted on the air. For those who got his sense of humor and passion, it was a magical listening experience.

Been trying to find the date Neil started on LAC. Do you remember? Think he and Bill Calder were there for about a month in 1980.

I swear, I was just looking that up. Wikipedia says 1982. That's means I must have been home in Nashville on vacation. I know I listened more than just a few nights. I swear it seemed earlier than 1982. I could easily see 1980 making more sense. He didn't last long! Who decided that, I am unsure.

The whole Neil in Nashville topic sounds like it would be a great thread of its own. I remember as a kid listener when he left Miami and ended up returning with much fanfare. So, what was he thinking? Was it just for good money and a big signal? Think he learned rather quickly that Miami - for better or worse - is where be fit best. Anyone have any stories or recollections?

There is a 5 year old thread, check the Nashville market and search for Neil. I know that the Wiki is incorrect and the date will be changed when I can nail down the date. The old thread contains what happened to Neil at LAC, but no dates.

The Neil Rogers website that belongs to digitalcolony is NeilRogers.org. There is a list of all the shows we have with some notes about the shows. The files can also be downloaded via 4shared.

We have been adding around 4 shows a day from 1999-2009. But we do not have any more Neil Rogers tapes. If you know of someone who has Neil Rogers audio please let us know. There are just 2 of use editing the shows and making the YouTube videos. If anyone wants to help please let us know. 8)

Thank you for the uploads to YouTube. Listening to these shows brings back some great memories. I definitely remember hearing some of these shows live back in the late 90s. There is no one on the air today that is as compelling a listen as Neil. It is little wonder that talk radio in South Florida is in the ratings decline it is.

Over 25 shows added this weekend from 1999 & 2000.

There is content that is not on YouTube yet, newspaper articles, shows by other South Florida talkers, Neil bits and drops. You can download these from 4shared. Check the and [E] archives at http://neilrogers.org.

Guitar Man of Neil fame has shared many of his tapes and DAT's just go to the Guitar Man folder in archive [E].

All of the 2001 and 2002 Neil Rogers shows we have been uploaded to 4shared and to YouTube. We are working on 2003 now.

We have almost all of the digital shows, but really need someone who has tapes of WNWS, WINZ, WZTA, and WIOD. You can contact us through NeilRogers.org, or the The Neil Rogers FaceBook group.

NeilFan, I can't thank you enough. Since you posted about having archived Neil programs on YouTube - without commercials! - I have been replaying shows nonstop. Neil's last-ever broadcast was fascinating. He trashed the PPM system as only he could. And there was a good deal of speculation about Jorge possibly going to 850 WFTL, which certainly would be better than their current product.

Listening to Neil makes me wonder about the current progression of talk and AM radio to the FM dial. Had Neil lived, might he have become the centerpiece of a talker's move to the FM dial? It would have been interesting. I only wonder what Uncle Neil would have thought of talk being on FM.

Glad you are enjoying the shows.

If Neil were still on the air, I don't know if he would have ever been syndicated. In the 80's his influence could be heard on many talk shows.

Neil was on FM for a short time in 1987-88. What few tapes I have are uploaded and are on YouTube.

WZTA was branded, "Zeta-4" and was a full market signal on 94.9 FM.
He would be more concerned over the direction that content has taken than with the technical platform.

Very glad I found this thread and the pointer to the archives.

I lived in Broward from 1989 to 1994 and could not have survived that long down there with Neil Rogers.

Does anyone know what happened to his short term co-host, "The Bird"?

Glen "The Bird" Hill passed away back in 2000. Glen was on the show during my favorite era of Neil.

Glad you are listening, new videos posted almost everyday.

Sorry to hear that The Bird is no longer with us but thanks for the quick reply.

Also, In my original note, I should have said /without Neil Rogers/
