Neil Young said it, not me....

In other news the sun came out today..... ::)

C'mon. I know a lot of the older people on this board pine for the days of Top 40 radio and Casey Casum but kids these days don't give two SH**S about DJ's and rock on the radio. You can have all that music, in better audio, with no commercials and interruptions in the palm of your hand, and no pukey DJ's rambling on about rock blocks and free pizza giveaways. Not to mention not worrying about a signal.

Local morning shows that are funny and relevant are their only savior.

I really think political talk and news will always be on the air, when done right. stations like WCBS in NY and WTOP in DC still raking in Millions prove that.

But music on the radio? It's just irrelevant to today's generation

well, for the white kids, anyway.

news-talk? how about sports-talk?
in my market ST has grown more
than NT or Latino or even Urban.

bottom line: remember the local neighborhood
where your parents (AM), and maybe you (FM), lived?
well, the store signs aren't in English anymore, and that
could be a good thing. personally, i like Moraccan BBQ.

I hope Niel Young will remember, a southern radio man don't need him around anyhow. It's great to get news about
radio from a guy who hasn't had a hit in 40 years!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p :p :p WWZS: "What would Zoot say?"

OK< I'm done now. Hope I did't jangle your chains too too hard!!! ;D

Neil Young was talking about Southern redneck discrimination and saying he didn't need them - not the other way around.

And his quote is not directed at radio per se but rather at the music industry and the distribution of music. As a musician who was one of the primary drivers of the protest rock of the 60's and 70's and as a member of one of the most popular vocal groups of the same era I would say he has every right to comment.
