I was driving home from the office earlier and I heard Nelly and Tim McGraw "Over and Over", the song does not get played on Country Radio and the safest Adult Contemporary radio station in the country is playing it ?

What Gives ?

I've heard it on B101 several times, and as much as I despise the song, it works fine on the B. I could see the argument by country stations not playing it because Tim is not as prominently featured, and it doesn't sound the least bit country.

I'd have to agree! For "The B" to play it I see no problem. And in all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if it turns up on "LITE-FM" in NYC since they seem to be losing their "Lite" roots more and more on a daily basis. Granted we are talking about 2 different monsters, but B-101 truly IS an AC station while WLTW is basically "All Over The Map" music-wise. I'll take "B" ANY Day! In most of my travels through Central & North Jersey I end up picking up "B-101" instead of 101.1 "Jack" in NYC anyway! Congrats to those guys...if it ain't broke don't fix it!

I would have to agree, that B101 is a much better AC radio station. Lite FM seems to be taking too many risks with the music they play. Like you said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

There are some phrases that once would have seemed funny to hear on the B...

"Green Day on B-101"
"Smashmouth on B-101"
"Pink on B-101"
"Tom Petty on B-101"

But they all work. And while I can't hear Lite FM and comment on it directly, I'd say as a general impression that more variety is better.

The key letter to me in "AC" is the "C." Go with what the target demo wants to hear. I know I'm not in the target, so they wouldn't give a rat's tush what I think....like how much I hate Saturday at the '70s.

I could hear that, because a song such as "Free Fallin" is played on some AC stations.

Yeah, Lite FM actually has a lot of variety, but they really seem to be taking A LOT of risk. On the NYC board, there is a thread about Lite FM playing Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust".
