Nelson Hobdell

This is also posted on the Philadelphia board, but longtime Philadelphia beautiful music radio announcer Nelson Hobdell passed away this week. He worked at WWSH "Wish 106" and its later "Wish" copy at 560 AM, as well as PD for the attempted "beautiful country" format on WSNI in 1977-78. One time I was in Lincoln, Nebraska and heard what sounded like his voice doing liners on beautiful music KLIN.

Had the beautiful music era extended to today's radio corporate world, he would have been the perfect voice to voicetrack hundreds of stations for a corporate owner. His voice had just the right sound & sincerity for an easy listening station.
