Neo-dance sound ... early 90s and Dev...

I haven't posted in a long while but I am struck by Dev's song and its neo-sound back to an early 90s Nightcrawlers, Jomanda, Crystal Waters type sound with the electronic saxophone sound. Love it. Dance is back big time! It hasn't sounded this strong and good since the early 90s ala B-96, Hot 97 era (minus freestyle). It may even sound better. Jury is still out for me on that one. But I'm enjoying it while it's here.

I love Dev's "In the dark". I never liked Enur's "Calabria" though. I feel bad for saying this, just in case Enur is still hanging out in the afterlife watching me type this. I don't condone disrespecting people who have passed on, but odds are she's either exploring other parts of the universe or was already resurrected, so I really don't have much to worry about.

The ONLY thing I liked about Enur's "calabria" back in '07 is that it sounded pretty "cutting edge" in regard to dance music on a rhythmic format station at the time. As a matter of fact, I used to like A LOT of songs based purely on the fact that they sounded "edgy-dance" compared to the other material that was being played pre 2009. Remeber my "obsession" with Kristina DeBarge? I never even really liked that song, "goodbye", but it was exciting to hear something of that style get played on a station that was still known for being "where hip hop lives!"

Yes, I know Kristina could easily google "DjKDM7000" or "KDM7000" and trace back to what I just wrote about her music, and would probably kill me for it, but it's all good though cuz if she kills me, then I could apologize to Enur once I cross over to the other side.  ;) It's a win win!

Actually I did. I remember even mixing "the anthem" when I was still learning the new computer mixing software and the whole mix came out to 64kbps and I was proud of myself!

I also was excited when I first heard 101.5 drop "the anthem" in regular rotation one Friday night (Saturday morning) around 3:20am because I thought latin house was coming back and that the new 101.5 was becoming dance friendly! Little did I know it was just another mainstream hit that anybody would've played, regardless of whether or not 101.5 existed.
