Is there an audience for this format to be on a FM stick 24/7?

Probably the closest station to this format currently is KRNB Dallas with its currents focused Urban AC, some of which could be classified as Neo-Soul and of course there is WHUR's HD Channel.
There is an audience for this format but the problem is, Act Of 1996 Kiiled The Radio for The People , Very little local ownership . These National Radio Ownership ( Clear Channel,CBS and Radio One ) only care about making money and thats it ( more Money ,cut jobs and F the People needs ). Before 1996 , Local Ownership made money and listen to The Local People , for what they wanted on the air . Neo-Soul format can be a viable Format ( make money ) only if , Clear Channel , Radio One and CBS , think that they can get major money, like there Urban and CHR/R formatted stations .salemjedi54 said:Is there an audience for this format to be on a FM stick 24/7?

I've been noticing a slight trend that some u/ac stations breaking away from hip-hop in their programming, and some urban stations are following suit. They're not getting away from it, just certain songs with suggestive lyrics are being pushed to later hours if not overnight.
With that said, a little history here...urban a/c radio at one point used to be what we considered fullservice, meaning you heard music that appealed to younger and upper demos alike. That's when contemporary jazz artists like Roy Ayers, George Duke, Ronnie Laws, Lonnie-Liston Smith, Gerald Albright etc. etc. along with great vocal artists helped to solidfy the urban a/c base.
Adding neo-Soul brings into focus the diversity that urban a/c radio has and can showcase. But it takes someone with an open mind to see and embrace it. Or is it too much to undertake? Would you rather have satellite radio pickup on it and make a channel that would showcase it?
Message to (Radio One & CC, who have the capacity and network of stations to create change in urban a/c) while other companies have urban stations fighting in-house to one up each other, someone take the reins and make urban a/c a fullservice format that you as broadcasters, parents find uplifting sending a positive message that you would let you children listen to, advertisers want to in on, revenue streams go up as do ratings. And everybody's happy.
Radio can come fullcircle "it just takes focus"
