NEON TREES - ANIMAL (Rhythm Dance Remixes?)

Are there any I'm surely hoping that there will be or already are some GOOD rhythmic dance mixes of this song because I'm sure the KZON dj's will not enjoy mixing the original version of this song in their mixshows! After what was going on with the Orianthi record in KZON mixshows a few months ago, I'm thinking.... there must be a more mixable version of this song (especially if it's going to continue to be one of those big enough to start making it to more rhythmic radio stations), and I hope that if there isn't, there will hopefully be one to easily be found by THIS FRIDAY....  ;D I'm not saying the dj's can't do it. I'm sure they have the skill to pull it off, but... just thinking of the concept of using the original Neon Trees "Animal" in a mix with urban and rhythmic pop is... well, somewhat disturbing - to the point I want to pull out my disturbia record and bump it in honor of the entire situation. It's already in normal rotation...

At least Ultimix provided a decent (dance remixed) mixshow friendly version of Orianthi's record that KZON dj's started using once they "got sick of" messing around with and blending the original version of "according to you". I could go check for the Neon Trees remixes, but... too lazy to do so at the moment.

I am running the Kaskade Remix of "Animal". To me, this remix has a similar sound of Gabriel & Dresden.

BPM plays a great remix to Animal in high rotation,,, I really like both the original and much more so,, BPMs Dance Mix.

I'll have to hear this song a few more times before I decide whether or not I actually like it. It was just odd hearing it where I heard it, then having to back up to make sure I was hearing correctly and double check that no one changed the radio channel.

I can understand P!NK "raise your glass" being added though... especially more now that Neon Trees was played on KZON. I'm not complaining. I'm just stating what's going on.

The kaskade mix is the best official remix from the package. To me the song falls apart halfway through, so it's still on the shelf for me.

Im sure hoping they are playing a remix and not the original to Animals on KZON.. This guitar POP/Rock on rhythmics is really killing the rhythmic radio and making it indistinguishable from a Rhythmic Leaned CHR.... Same goes for Rhythmic ACs that are indistingiushable from a Rhythmic or CHR station.. It makes me wonder that in two years,, will Rhythmic CHR and Rhythmic AC still be around... I know Urban will survive,, but still,,, Rhythmics should stick to uptempo hip hop and Dance,,,, No Guitar POP,,, no gang bangin, and no slow jamz.

Slow jamz have decreased (seemingly) on rhythmics, or at least in Phoenix, we no longer have that on any of our (current) rhythmic stations. I think if anything, rhythmics (or the rhythmic sound) will outlast urban, or will always be more widespread and popular than urbans on a national scale. I don't mind rhythmics that lean pop playing some guitar heavy material. That's different, though, on a more urban leaning rhythmic. It would sound extremely funny on KKFR, or Florida's WiLD 94.1fm. Usualy rhythmics that play the hottest alternative/pop rock sounding songs tend to only play one at a time, unlike those rhythmic lean top 40's who will even go as far as to still play Taylor Swift amongst other things of that nature. I remember when KPTY was temporarily like this and they added in one Shania Twain record with the other urban rhythmic hits. Then they added in Sugar Ray for a while. When 103.9 KPTY was new, it was mainly all rhythmic hip hop and r&b with some pop from Robyn, then they had ONE song from Lil Suzy that was freestyle, called "can't get you out of my mind" and that was the only freestyle/dance song they had in non mixshow rotation. I remember when KKFR was all hip hop & r&b, then they added in "Livin la vida loca" by Ricky Martin and "I need to know" by Marc Anthony - and THE REST was hip hop and r&b!!

(With exception to "hey ya") I'm not sure why some rhythmics do things like that - where they'd play a certain sound, then every now and then there would be this one odd thing that makes it into their playlist that seems to not fit. KZON had Orianthi on the playlist for a while, and 3OH!3's "don't trust me" is still in soft rotation. One of the dj's there still uses the remix of 3OH!3 in his mixes... (so maybe the dance version of Neon Trees might now be used as well during the electro portion of their weekday noon and weekend mixes).

I guess with the new P!NK, in addition to the sound of "teenage dream" and some 30H!3 and "hot & cold" in soft rotation, the Neon Trees sort of fits in. 3/4ths of what I just mentioned are technically electro-pop/rock when you really think about it. Glad "we" are able to influence the pop rock sound as well!

I like Radio NOW in Indy,, and most of the Now stations,, they lean more rhythmic than some Rhythmic stations,,, But my favorite rhythmic aside from Dance Leaing WPTY L.I and Wild 102.7 is Power 96 Miami,,, but they lately dissapointed me by adding a Rock Record from over a year ago,,, Use Somebody by KINGS OF LEON... Dont get me wrong,, I love CHR Radio,,, alot,,, but I think stations should stick to the format,, if I tune into a rhythmic,, or a Dance station,, chances are Im not in the mood for Rock at the Moment.

I guess Im a bit Biased though,, because Indys Alternative 103.3 The X,,, played INNA-Hot for awhile,,, stuck out like a soar thumb and I still cant figure out why they added it,, but I gave them props for adding a Dance Track,, it was only played between 2 AM and 5 AM,, but at least they added it,, It likely tested horribly,, they would have been better off to added Bullet Proof,,, even though im not a huge fan of that song anymore,, it is over a year old,, and some stations are just starting to lightly play it.

If it wasn't for the increase / additions of recurrents and some of the pop/rock type stuff, KZON (and many other similar rhythmic formats) would be sounding like a dance rhythmic by default, based purely on the uptempo mainstream rhythmic material that has been released lately alone. Since they are mainly middle of the road pop, a lot of what they were getting into during the time when they were playing nothing but new music was uptempo. By now, they would've surely been sounding like an electro-pop / rhythmic pop with a dance feel if the recurrent hits, some old school, and other things weren't sprinkled in. Once again, I'm not complaining, but I think some recent actions and tweaks surely did prevent them from coming across as "techno-ish". A lot of recurrents are not uptempo, so that does tend to spread out the dancey tracks a bit that would/may have played back to back (for a longer period of time) otherwise.

With Taylor Swift and other things, Top 40's or stations that add in all hits can only sound dancey to a point, since the pop rock and country...etc will "mess up the dance feel flow". I must admit that the dance sound is benefiting a bit more from the lack of much successful rock and alternative in chr today. It surely does leave room for more back to back dance (then on top of that, you have the uptempo and midtempo pop records with a dance style, and other things like "magic" by BOB and electro-hip hop).

If Radio Now didnt play just a few non Rhythmics an hour it would be a pure Uptempo Dance-pop staion,,, not High Energy Dance like E-98, and Vibe Vegas, But Dance-Pop and Urban-Dance,,, the most recent Drake record has a dancy feel to it too,, at least the version that WNOU plays does.

QUESTION ANSWERED.

Which version would they play in the mix?
They are playing the original version of it in the mix on KZON as I type. I forgot about the fact that if you just start with it, you don't have to bother mixing in to it. Only problem is whatever comes after it will have to be really fast or at least a half bpm speed record. This is the first time I heard it mixed. Now lets see if there is or will be any dance remixes of P!NK "raise your glass"..

148 bpm... that explains why they had to slow down the "feel it" by Three6Mafia & Tiesto that followed. It reminds me of when 103.9 KPTY mixed "La Bamba" by Jonny Z (which is latin booty bass at about 150bpm or so) then mixed in "Tha Hop" by Kinsu right afterwards at the same speed. Back in those days, I didn't see much wrong with it because I had just came back from Atlanta, where the Bankhead Bounce and many other booty bass hits were well above 135 and even 140 bpm.

songs at that tempo "appear" much faster with a "4 on the floor" pattern (like happy hardcore). If the beat pattern is broken up (like much rock music like Killers, Neon Trees... or 80s stuff like "My Sharona" or "Just Like Heaven"), then it comes across as "not so fast" (in my opinion....like breakbeats). KDM, you always go off in the deep end with your examples! lol, I think some better examples would be Hey Ya, Pump It (BEP), Rockefeller Skank (right about now), Shake It (Metro Station), or Magic (B.o.B.)
