Netflix Is Raising Its Prices (Again), Will Now Be the Most Expensive Streamer

Effectively immediately for new users, the standard plan for U.S. subscribers (which permits two simultaneous HD streams and is the most popular tier) has increased from $13.99 to $15.49 per month. (That puts it over HBO Max’s $15 per month to make it the most expensive major streaming service.)

Netflix previously raised its prices in January 2021, with consumers seeing about $1-2 price hikes across all subscription plans.

The article in The Verge has a table that shows us how the price of each of Netflix's three plans has increased during the last several years.

The one I am most interested in is the Basic plan because no one else in my household will watch Netflix. Since its introduction in 2014, Basic Netflix has had its price increased by $1.00 only twice, in 2019 and 2022. The price of Basic Netflix is now $9.99, which is still less expensive than ad-free HBO Max.
