so there were only these on C-Band?

GE-1-TP 10: WJLA 7 Washington D.C. (ABC), replaced by WKRN-TV in Nov 1997
GE-1-TP 6: WNBC 4 New York (NBC) a la "NBC America via Satellite"
GE-1-TP 24: WRAL 5 Raleigh (CBS), replaced by WSEE-TV in Oct. 1997 as "See
CBS" on satellite
S4-TP 8: KOMO 4 Seattle (ABC)
S4-TP 6: KNBC 4 Los Angeles (NBC)
S4-TP 24: KPIX 5 San Francisco (CBS)
S4-TP 10 and F1R-TP 19: FOX Net (they had plenty of FOX feeds on the big dish), was also carried on DirecTV until Feb. 1999 (when they replaced it with KTTV/Los Angeles (Fox-West) and WNYW/New York (Fox-East)), and Dish Network until Sep. 1998, when they replaced it as well.

S4-TP 14: WWOR-9 New York (UPN) did they carry the "EMI" or "UPN Affiliate" feed?

and their only WB choices aside from KWGN-Denver (which was part of the "Denver Six") which was:
S3R-TP 15: KTLA 5 Los Angeles (WB) not as a popular superstation as WGN (which was distributed nationally) was.
G5R-TP 7: WGN 9 Chicago (WB) I'm not sure if they used the "superstation" or "Chicago" feed on the big dish.
S3R-TP 9: WPIX 11 New York (WB) was also carried on Dish Network at the time.

not to mention TBS-Atlanta (an independent station) which was on G5R-TP 6.

I do know the Los Angeles independents were oddly popular in New Mexico in the 1980s, with most population centers in the state getting at least one of KCOP, KHJ, KTLA, and KTTV. El Paso, Texas had KTLA on cable through 2006 as El Paso lost its WB affiliate to TeleFutura in 2002.

Oh, but I do know they had tons of FOX Network feeds on the big-dish (1997), I'm not sure what they were used for? (closed circuit feeds, upfronts, endless promotion compilations etc...)
 
Ku-Band Satellite affiliates (1997)

along with carrying network/satellite feeds of CBS, NBC, ABC. Which of the network affiliates did Ku-Band Satellite carry at the time including those of Fox and UPN? (1997)
 
I understand that "Telstar-402" was the satellite used for the FOX Network feeds (o/v). But what were they used for? (affiliate meetings, upfronts, closed circuit feeds, promos etc...)
 
and there's the "Telstar 5" satellite used for "FOX Network" feeds as well as "20th Century Fox Television" (forsyndicated feeds), and "ABC Network West/East Hot Backup".

aside from the Network feeds, plus KOMO Seattle and WJLA-Washington, D.C. (later replaced by WKRN-Nashville) from "Primetime 24" which of the ABC Affiliate feeds were carried on Ku-Band at the time? (1997)
 
also not to mention the "Telstar-5" satellite which launched on May 24 that year (also carried on 28 Ku-Band) which was used for ABC (o/v) (T5-21) on Ku-Band, FOX/20th Century Fox Television (o/v) (T5-9/10 & 13), UPN (o/v) (T5-16) and Buena Vista feeds.

(1997)

WB Affiliates on Ku-Band (1997)

Apart from the WB Network feed that was carried on G4 TP7, and KTLA/Los Angeles and WPIX/New York (on the Spacenet 3 feeds). Which of the WB affiliates were carried on KU-Band (Spacenet 3, Telstar 3) at the time? (1997) They were a relatively small network that had only three nights (Sundays, Mondays & Wednesdays).
The only WB affiliates that had news divisions in '97 were KTLA/Los Angeles, KWGN/Denver, WGN/Chicago, WPIX/New York, KPWB/Sacramento (which became a UPN affiliate the following year & was renamed KMAX-TV), WPHL/Philadelphia, WLVI/Boston, KPLR/St. Louis & WKCF/Orlando. The others had newscasts carried by their local affiliates (ABC, NBC, Fox & CBS) like WNDY/Indianapolis (which Paramount bought and became a UPN affiliate the following year), WBZL/Miami & WRAZ/Raleigh.

Pardon me for reviving a dead thread but the Galaxy 4 side of Ku actually consisted mainly of CBS NewsPath feeds and Chinese stations I believe. NBC moved most of its feeds to Ku Band (PBS was there as well). I heard that Ku band was mainly for occassional video feeds, sports backhauls (NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, college sports etc...), live events, news feeds, educational channels (PBS stations, Channel One News), satellite news gathering feeds, teleconferences, various other backhauls, electronic news gathering, special events and several others....
