Never thought I'd see the SUNS in the AM ghetto..

How the great have stumbled.

Yeah, the Suns stink out loud this year, but I suspect something like this would not happen if Jerry Colangelo was still calling the shots. For the Suns to be on the Nifty 860 is dang near unbelievable.

I'm not buying the Boston bombing angle either. That story has been up and down all day and it's possible that nothing newsworthy happens tonight. If it does, break into the game and then switch it to 860 if warranted.

If I was Robert Sarver, I'd consider another radio home. Bonneville has too many PxP committments and not enough signals.

Who listens to Suns on the radio anyway? They suck, and being on a marginal Ancient Modulation station for their final game is just desserts. Nurse Jeff and I think TMISU did the right thing by moving the game to 8~Sixty. Anyway, the broadcast could have run past 7pm and pre-empted Dave Ramsey on 92~Three ::)

With their record this season, they deserve to have their last game to be called by local aspiring high school broadcasters...

That statement is precisely why the rest of the country makes fun of the fanbase here. Individuals such as yourself would be the first to show outrage if the Suns were relegated to the 860 dumpster if they had a winning record.

What a lame, fickle market.

I do, others do... some of us aren't stuck in a media hut 24/7 and actually go out and do things, thus we like to have coverage and so forth. The game could have easily been put on 98.7, I don't think the performance of a team in any given year should dictate their priority. Sure, the Suns are terrible this year, but what an unfortunate way to end the season to put the game on a station with such a weak signal that if someone turns on a microwave in the valley I can no longer hear it.

Hey, you could be the Rockets, with your games on an AM that you can't get after dark (some but not all carried on its sister FM station pre-empting Delilah) and on a TV network that the team owns a chunk of but isn't available in most homes or sports bars. When the season began we all joked that the owner was trying to hide the team from the public while they rebuilt on purpose because you have to make a real effort to find the games compared to previous years.

You get the media carriage you pay for. If the Suns want meaningless games to end up somewhere other Sports ParkingLot 860, they could have it... but that costs money.

Normally, the Suns are the top priority on 620. The Cards are always on 92.3 (with a simulcast on 620 if the Suns or D'backs aren't playing), as are the D'backs if the Suns are playing at the same time. Putting the Suns on 860 is almost unheard of, no matter how lousy they are.

But on TV, for some ungodly reason, FSNAZ puts the Suns #1. They've shoved the Coyotes and D'backs to FSN+ if the Suns are playing at the same time. I think it was reversed for this past Wednesday's game, where the D'backs were on FSN and the Suns were deservedly relegated to FSN+, but AFAIK, that's the only time that has happened.

Sarver must have OK'ed both moves for that final game.
