New 12 News Meteorologist!

12 News introduced meteorologist Rob Carlmark this morning on 12 News Weekend Today. Apparently, he is Jerrid's replacement and was around much of this week working behind the scenes with storm coverage (probably preparing Jimmy Q's forecasts ;)).

Seems like a really nice guy, but not yet in Jerrid's league.

BTW, it's nice to see 12 News put some actual effort in the weekend am newscast today.

That being said, he does make Joe Dana look about 18 which is a difficult feat! :D
 
I wanted to see this new guy. Saturday night Caribe Devine was on. Figured he'd be on Sunday morning. Good, because I watch 12 News every Sunday. There wasn't a broadcast. Sunday night Caribe again did the weather.

This was the second Sunday in a row that 12 News wasn't on. Last week, for some reason, I thought it might have to do with the Rock & Roll Marathon and NBC showing the NHL. This Sunday (24 Jan) there were infomercials at 8/8:30 then cartoons and the NHL. Why would they not show the news? Did they dump Sunday mornings?
 
Brahm, who now seems to be anchoring solo on Saturdays, mentioned that Sunday Squareoff was available on-line only this week and would return next weekend. Future TV schedule also show the return of 12 News Sunday Today next weekend.

So, I guess they haven't given up on it yet. That being said, it remains to be seen who is going to be anchoring which newscasts on the weekend. For the past two weeks, it's been Joe Dana on Sat am, Brahm on Sat pm, and Kim on Sun pm. It would make sense for Brahm to anchor on Sun am, since it appears that he is the new host of Sunday Squareoff. Syleste supposedly now anchors at noon and reports for 12 News Valley Dish. So, I wouldn't expect her to make many appearances on the weekend (although she did report from one of the child seat belt sites on Sat am).

I assume that Sunday Squareoff is taped because it never seems live. If Brahm did the news and S.S. he would have to wear the same clothes for believability.

Sunday Squareoff is most certainly taped. You make a really good point about the clothes -- didn't think of that! :D I do wonder, though, how the weekend anchoring assignments are going to work out.

Speaking of clothes, have you ever watched Your Life A to Z on 3? OMG, they just cut and paste the segments together. Lisa and Gayle probably wear 4 or 5 different outfits EACH during that show.
 
I watched 12 Snooze Weekend Today this morning. How painful -- it was just Joe Dana. There were recorded weather (Jimmy Q) and sports (Coop) segments. No live reports anymore, nothing. Hardly worth watching!

OTOH, GMAZ Weekend had their normal lineup with Brittany reporting live from the Challenger Science Museum. I choose GMAZ now.

Apparently, "12 stands for recorded news" on weekend am's.

I noticed on Saturday morning that Jimmy Q. did the taped weather. Didn't watch early evening but Caribe did the 10:00 weather.

So I turn on Sunday and Caribe does the weather obviously taped from last night. Forgot to memorize what clothes she was wearing Saturday. ;)

So if you want live weather during the weekend, looks like 3TV is the place with more stuff.
 
Today (13 February) Caribe Devine was live on 12 News this morning with Joe Dana. I missed the beginning but I think Dana welcomed Devine back to the show.

Yes, Joe did welcome Caribe back to the weekend morning show at the begining of the newscast! In past years, she would have been live at the book sale (desperately trying to find interesting live shots from a used book sale)!! :D
 
Caribe was reporting live from the auto races this morning! Finally, 12 News is putting on a "normal" weekend am newscast. It's much better than Joe being there by himself with recorded sports and weather.

I wonder did Caribe/12 News have to dodge the 3TV truck because Brittney Shipp was also there.

I was wondering the same thing, although news people are very used to this according to my cousin who is a videojournalist. It's very possible that Brittany and Caribe were chatting during the breaks.
