New 12 + ratings out; discuss...

...but don't give out actual numbers...

http://www.radioandrecords.com

go to Ratings then Boston
WKLB goes up another tiny fraction--now in sixth place even before the freq switch

WRKO up a bit
WEEI down a bit
WTKK up...

WKAF-FM (former WILD-FM) down
WRCA-AM actually shows up

most stations fairly unchanged

All-sports WAMG-890 (plus WLLH-AM 1400 in Lowell & Lawrence) makes a cameo appearance; this must frost the noses of the (remaining) people at WWZN-AM 1510...it actually has a worse pre-sunrise and nighttime signal than WWZN!

WKAF has a strong signal in Roxbury,Dorchester and Brocton , Where Rock fans live . WKAF say hello to your next door neighbor WFNX , in the ratings .O Look ,Radio One WILD-AM ,stop bye to say hello .

WKAF and WAAF will probably be combined ratings on the same line in the next book, after their first full book as a simulcast. I doubt we'll see separate ratings for WKAF for long.

The ratings shown for WKAF this time are probably from their last days as WILD-FM, which show as being down because it only had that format for part of the book. What WAAF listener would ever write WKAF in a diary? They don't promote those call letters at all.

WKLB beat WODS, I think that may be a first. WODS and WMJX have been the top two adult music stations for many years, until now.

The shocker is WRKO beating WODS. Well, they went Christmas music yesterday.

Keep in mind, WRKO might've got a bump from the election cycle gearing up for the past 8 months. Now that it is over and the station has no news department, things will go back to normal. RKO plummets, ODS picks up.

Just had a question regarding the WAAF/WKAF ratings. Since they are still separate does this mean you would add the two numbers together to get their total rating? or would this not be accurate either because WKAF was still WILD at some point during the ratings time period? Thanks for the info.

THAT'S 12 - PLUS, 25 -- 54 is much lower for 'rko

Adding them would not be accurate because the ratings in this past book attributed to WKAF are from the stations' last days as WILD-FM.

I doubt that WKAF is getting any ratings since the flip because their listeners would simply write WAAF in a diary whether they're listing on either 97.7 or 107.3. They don't promote the WKAF call letters at all. The ratings for both stations will all go to WAAF once they're combined, because those are the letters that the listeners will hear and write down regardless of which one they're actually listening to.

It says on the bottom of the chart:

> WKAF-FM - Was WILD-FM (Urban) until September

The simulcast actually began the last week of August, but they didn't get the WKAF call letters for 97.7 until the second week of September.

Still doesn't touch the numbers that station did with La Mega.

Jammin is solidy #1. That's significant.
And WILD-AM actually pulls numbers with its automated gospel programming.

I disagree, I think that would have been the case in the last book. This book was entirely WKAF simulcasting WAAF
