Love the sound of the NEW After Hours House Channel, is this channel pretty much all Progressive, or does it play other stuff? Also, the Much Needed UK Import Channel is also smokin. Cant wait to here the Latin House channel when it comes, and the other new stuff coming up, hopefully alot of Quality HOUSE MUSIC outlets, with just House music in general. So stop by www.1club.fm if you havent been there in a while. Russ and his crew just keep making it better over there.

I hope these bitpass subscriber people don't see ads...I'd flip out if I was paying for something and was bombarded with ads.<P ID="signature">______________

Perhaps Internet stations that have to cut down their channel line up should take the advertisement approach that I have taken? - It would help them grow.. and not have to cut down on channels.

We peak at 26,000 concurrent listeners per day.. and they dont seem to complain about the ads ;)

Thanks Midwestclubber!

Sounds good to me. I will be hanging out. P.S the adds dont bother me, Do what you have to do, to keep it around. THANKS>.....

Ads are what pay the bills. No one works for free and bandwidth doesn't either. When you get around 2.5 million listeners per month sucking bandwidth the costs for playing that music goes even higher.

Banner ads are no biggie, a few audio ads ala a gateway ad is no biggie either. If it's an issue then there's plenty of other sites that won't be around much longer to listen to.

Um...I was responsible for automation, building a studio, the computers and picking music for a dance station. It would seem all of your gripes about mak's business have NOTHING to do with what I did for him. I suppose that's a compliment to me :)

But thank you for bringing him up...I'm sure he appreciates the free plugs.<P ID="signature">______________

Oh, puhleeze...don't give me a speech on internet advertising. It's what I do for a living. Likewise, that number of ads are a HUGE turn off. I'm not talking about the 3 people on radio-info who kiss Russ's ass....I'm talking about the actual listener.

Something more acceptable would be a pre-roll...when you tune in you hear, "this station brought to you by so and so." People can disable the ads on the website if they frequently visit...people can't disable a pre-roll.

It would seem that ANY criticism gets childish and irrational responses with the same 3 people jumping to someone's defense--even from the guy who runs it. Puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze. You'll never get better if you can't step back and say "hmmm maybe that ain't so great."<P ID="signature">______________

Aside from being rather successful in radio for 35 years. I was once part of a incredidbly successful internet company that "Mak'd" those around today (including Russ and you). In fact, I still consult a few of them.

There's just hard business decisions you have to make when it comes to spot load and it's not just in radio any longer. You have to decide whether you're going to do it your way or the other way. The other way allows you to stay in business. Your way may or may not.

And actually, I resent your tone. I made a point and you exploded in rage. I listen to many internet radio stations. I also listened to the one you worked for and wasn't impressed. The product, the programming, whoever was running it didn't get it. There's a way you have to play the game and they weren't playing it properly. Hard lesson learned I'm sure.

Since you're dropping "science" on us all, let me drop some on you. Their growth and the way they're growing it tells me they understand how they need to play the game to be a winner. They're growing their network of avails for advertisers and in time will fill their inventory. That's success and embeds success for the future.

While there's many secrets to being a successful internet (or any other form of) broadcaster, there's no secret to what drives and pays for it all. If you want to be "anti-corporate" and tell people you don't run commercials "because all those other guys do" then your listeners will eat you out of house and home and not even look back when you're gone. You have to run ads. You can't make your listeners happy when you're not on the "air". How many and when and where? That's judgement and they seem to be judging things well to this point.

Who the hell is kissing my ass? Just because someone says something positive to someone on a dance board about a dance station.. doesnt mean they are kissing ass.

We do those also Sambucca.. and listeners would rather deal with banner ads.. then deal with pre roll ads. They drive listeners away.<P ID="signature">______________

Oh I was unaware of that. When the station WAS doing decent.. You didnt mind telling everyone on Radio-Info about the big profit yall were making.. and giving new internet radio streamers inside info on the costs it takes to run that station and all that... so I always figured that you were much more involved with that station.

Im thinking that saying Far too many ads one time in a post is constructive criticism.. but saying it 5 times is just being an smartass... so I had to come up with something.. no hard feelings.<P ID="signature">______________

I never mentioned financials aside from the money that was SPENT. As you well know, it's very expensive.<P ID="signature">______________

Looking MIGHTY forward to this channel coming!! :)

One thing to consider with regards to this particular channel, Russ...

Make sure you air a LOT of mixshows on Friday & Saturday nights, featuring BOTH Dance AND Hip-Hop mixes!! :)

> - All Mix Channel featuring Exclusive Mix Sets from some of
> the industry's biggest djs

Another HOT new channel coming soon!! :)

> - Classic Dance Channel featuring 80s and 90s Dance Music

DEFINITELY COO-WIL!! :)

> - Latin House Channel

Haven't heard a lot of Latin House music for quite awhile. Should be a treat to listen to!! :)

> - GirlPower Channel Featuring all diva vocals (Dance and
> Pop)

That will also be a COO-WIL station!! :)

> - ClubLand Live Channel with Kenny Jason - 24/7 Mainstream
> Dance Mix Channel.

I have another idea...

On Friday nights, when Kenny runs Clubland Live on the Dance Hits Channel, simulcast it onto the Clubland Live Channel at the same time. :)

> + 12 Non EDM Channels. (such as Classic Alternative Rock,
> Latino Caliente, Jammin Oldies, Clasic Country, Classic R&B,
> Active Rock, etc)

Active Rock? COOOOOOOO-WIIILLLLLLL!! :)

I have an idea for yet ANOTHER channel to add to the mix...

How about a Holiday / Seasonal Channel.

It would play different music depending on the upcoming Holiday, or on the time of year.

Examples...

From Thanksgiving Day to December 26, it would play Holiday & Christmas music.
During Summertime (except for the 4th of July weekend), there would be a Summer Up-tempo Mix.
Love Songs during the day of and days before Valentine's Day.
Irish / Caltic Music, as well as music from popular Irish music artists like U2 and The Cranberries, during the day of and days leading up to St. Patrick's Day.
Patriotic Music during the 4th of July (between July 3 -> 5).
Scary-themed / Halloween Music during the day of and week leading up to Halloween.
German ethnic music / music from German artists during Oktoberfest.
Solemn music during September 11.
From September 12/13 to the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (with the exception of Oktoberfest & Halloween), play an Autumn Mix of songs. If you want to find out the playlist I'm referring to for Autumn, go to http://www.angelfire.com/electronic2/deansb2000/autumn.html and scroll down.

Just thought I'd pass this idea along, Russ. :)

I LOVE Dance Music! It pumps LOUDER, HOTTER, FASTER, DEEPER, HARDER, and it's got a PULSE to it too! :)</P>
