New 50s/60s program on 94.1 Brenham....

Houston video producer and my friend Wally Newman has a 3-6 pm program Sunday afternoons on 94.1 Brenham simulcast on 1090 AM which reaches into Katy and neighboring parts of Houston...here's the blurb from KLTR's website:

BOBBY SOCKS & DOO WOP

Do you love the music of the 50’s & 60’s? We do too! And the New Lite FM 94.1 is proud to bring you Bobby Socks & Doo Wops every Sunday from 3 till 6 with your host Wally Newman. He’ll bring back memories of those beautiful girls in hoop skirts … and ’57 Chevys covered in chrome.

Wally will also take your requests and dedications and you’ll be able to play “Name That Tune” (let’s see how good your memory is!).

Bobby Socks & Doo Wop … Sundays from 3 till 6 … only on the New Lite FM.

His toll-free request line is 877-DOO-WOPS...Wally grew up in the LA area and used to work at KMPC so he's well versed in the music of the era and shares many insights with the very excited local audience...and he's attracting advertisers who never previously considered radio advertisng.

ATTENTION ADVERTISERS AND AGENCIES AND RADIO STATION PROGRAMMERS!!!!!....DON'T WRITE OFF THE OVER 54 AUDIENCE JUST BECAUSE THAT'S THE WAY YOU WERE TAUGHT TO THINK. Our generation grew up on radio and will stick with it til we die. It's the iPod generation that you will never attract with current offerings that you need to find some new creative ways to reach and retain...

I'll have to check this out. My goodness. With KRTX on Sunday mornings, KNTH on Saturday evenings, and now KNUZ on Sunday evenings, it looks like Oldies is making a return of sorts to Houston. Too bad you have to maneuver all over the dial to listen.
