NEW 6ABC SET!

And did anyone think there *wouldn't* be? It's tradition by this point.

That said, huge improvement and it brings the station into the 2000s.

Did they also change the music?
They are still stuck in the 1970s if they haven't changed the music!

All very interesting bits of technology and artistry, but if it ain't broke...

On the bright side, I don't think there's a slew of little mini-sets, so the anchors won't be bouncing all around the studio pretending the news is more meaningful if you stand in different corners.

And on the brighter side, the music stays as it should.

I can't agree more with this comment.

I wonder what if they changed the music and the "Action News" logo. If they want to keep the music fresh, they should use the new version that is being played on our Scranton ABC station(WNEP-TV).

No need to change either. The lettering is a basic timeless font that doesn't become dated; ditto for the music. This isn't like stations that used disco music; it's a basic orchestral-sounding arrangement that works just fine.

Well that is like putting a new engine into a 1972 Pinto.

They already tried once to change the music, and their audience made them go back to the original. Why would they attempt the same mistake twice?

6ABC has the smallest of the news sets in Philly. Somewhat high-tech., it's not really that spectacular. NBC10's Earthwatch has the best weather center set followed by CBS3. However, CBS3 has a slight edge on their news anchor set area. NBC10 is due for a major update to their anchor desk area. Does anyone have any status on when the NBC10 anchor desk area will be updated?
Edited by trolleyk on 02/15/06 02:38 AM.

Except that this 1972 Pinto has been running like a brand new Porche for a couple decades now. It ain't broke...so no need to fix it!

Thank you!

The Action News theme is a Philadelphia classic. Everyone in town, regardless of whether they watch Action News, knows that theme. And how many news themes have been made into ringtones?

Did this go into effect this weekend? Looks nice, especially with Jessica Borg. Is it me, or does she resemble a younger Dawn Stensland?

But it still looks and sounds like a 1972 Pinto.

More like a 1965 Mustang: standing the test of time in the only opinion poll that matters. Only now they added fuzzy dice from the mirror in the form of a weather set. Doesn't do anything at all--none of those weather islands add any value on any station--since they all end up in front of a green screen looking at the same jet streams and warm fronts on the same radar images, but mercifully they haven't played it up to a nauseating degree.

I would still say 1972 Ford Pinto, not a classic and hopelessly outdated.
