New 770 CP

I see that the FCC has dismissed the construction permit request to allow the new 770 to co-locate with WIOJ at Baldwin.Does this mean that 770 will now build at Callihan as their original CP allowed?

What is the COL for the new 770? I believe WIOJ shares tower space with WOKVs night-time six towers array. If I am correct, that would be the reason for the dismissal of allowing 770 to operate from that Baldwin tower site since 770 would be on the same set of towers occupied by WOKV 690. Those two frequencies are WAY to close to operate correctly on the same towers.

it's reccomended there be at least 180Khz if you are diplexing on an exsisting tower.

However, I know 2 stations only 80kHz apart in Orlando that diplex together and its a steaming pile of crap.

BINGO! The cross talk, among other things.. is horrible.

It was once reported that the diplex of WOKB 1680 and WLAA 1600 created a spur somewhere around 1760kHz and that it was heard on that spur frequency in Pensacola!

This facility has never operated correctly or efficiently. When I lived in Orlando, WTIR had just fired up on the new 1680 frequency. This was to be the flagship station for the (failed) Travelers' Information Radio network. WOKB was running an Urban format on 1600.

Nothing like hearing Rap "music" underneath dry vocal spots for restaurants and motels!

WOKB is now on 1680 with the gospel format and the La Que Buena format is on 1600.

Note that the new 1010-AM array is just west of Baldwin - and those folks might
be more amenable to the concept.

I saw a study once that proposed having AM 600 (then WOKV, now Radio Disney) upgrade to 50kw,
and move to Baldwin - but I guess they ended up buying AM 690 instead.

WBWL already uses five in-line towers for its 5kw night-time directional pattern. I'm sure it would need at least six towers for a 50kw directional daytime pattern.

The permittee, Northeast Florida Radio, LLC., also has an application to increase night service to 500 watts, again, using the same six tower array.

This is, indeed, very interesting. I would very much like to see the coverage maps for the proposed 770, but I haven't found anything on the FCC website.

As far as I can tell, Yes, it's dead.. but it could've been "Tolled"

Tolled=Had the permit time clock "pause" for a few reasons.
