New AC station some may enjoy

I stumbled upon a fairly new AC station (launched in May) located in Albequerque, and was surprised at their mix. They are definitely softer than a lot of AC stations, but not very sleepy like a WDUV. Here is a sample of what they played:

4:00PM hour 8/29

Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes
Mariah Carey - We Belong Toether
Elton John - Rocket Man
Michael McDonald - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Survivor - The Search Is Over
Seal - Kiss From a Rose
Maroon 5 - Won't Go Home Without You
James Taylor - Everyday
Michael Buble - Home
Earth, Wind, and Fire - September
George Benson - Turn Your Love Around
Daughtry - Life After You
Elton John - Philadelphia Freedom (2 EJ songs in the same hour?)
Selena - I Could Fall In Love

7:00PM hour 8/29

Mike & The Mechanics - The Living Years
Matchbox 20 - If You're Gone
Billy Joel - My Life
John Mayer - Dreaming With A Broken Heart
Rick Astley - Together Forever
Carly Simon - You're So Vain
Lonestar - Amazed
Gregory Abbott - Shake You Down
George Benson - Give Me The Night
Kelly Clarkson - Already Gone
Genesis - Throwing It All Away
Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats
Eagles - I Can't Tell You Why

They played some Ambrosia, Christopher Cross, Billy Ocean, Taylor Dayne songs also but some upbeat stuff as well. I don't care for their imaging, but definitely impressive for a startup AC in 2010. I like their blend, been listening online some. They are going up against an edgier/more modern AC so it will be interesting to watch. Their website is http://www.lite951fm.com

I saw this post since last February or March and start watching their playlist from yes.com and it was really good. They play a lot of good songs. They play Alicia Keys - No One, Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are, and stuffs similar to that, but it's not as bad as other CC AC stations. They played a lot Cheap Trick - The Flame, Paul Young - Oh Girl, Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away, Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting, Richard Marx - Hold On To The Nights, Chicago - Hard Habit To Break and stuffs similar to that. It's a very good station.

But, recently last week or two weeks ago when I came back to check their playlist... WTF!?!?!? I saw Pink - Raise Your Glass, Pink - F**kin Perfect, Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling, Katy Perry - California Gurls, Katy Perry - Teenage Dream, Katy Perry - Firework, Lady Gaga - Paparrazi. I even saw Haddaway - What Is Love. They do have some good stuffs like Breathe - Hands To Heaven and Rod Stewart - Have I Told You Lately. These are the stuffs almost all the CC AC stations plays.

They adopted AC format last May 2010 with a very decent playlist, but now they just changed their playlist or something. Did they sync their playlist to CC Premium Choice? Have they done this before ever since they adopted the AC format? Are they going to drop CC Premium Choice and return to their decent playlist of Cheap Trick, Paul Young, Richard Marx, and Chicago?

Unfortunately, KLQT has picked up Premium Choice. Same as WBBQ/Augusta, GA, WMGF/Orlando, FL, etc. I like PC because they play a good bit of older music....unfortunately for those wanting softer music, the songs you mention are staples on most AC formats. Premium Choice AC is actually tame compared to how it used to sound IMO.

True, Premium Choice is pretty decent with a lot of crazy mix from old and new and soft and hard music. :)

But, I wonder if KLQT went beyond the PC they adopted? I never saw Gavin Degraw on other CC AC playlist. :-\

One interesting thing about PC is some hours they play 4 70s songs then go an hour and play none. Odd

KLQT looks identical to WMGF in Orlando who runs Premium 24 hours a day. Looks to me like they are running it all of the time.

Yeah, I was wondering why I see these currents nights and days on KLQT almost all the time rather than just a certain time of a day or night, they really did run PC 24 hrs a day. Looks like they want to boost their low ratings to compete with Citadel's AC KMGA. Lol.

PC is good, but unfortunately KLQT (the station that plays very decent soft 80's hits) had been adopted by PC.

I believe Clear Channel successful, long time AC's Las Vegas KSNE and Los Angeles KOST are still pretty decent. They have a few currents including Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, but I see Chicago's If You Leave Me Now and Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World. Pretty good playlist... :)
