New AM Construction Permit

Yes, I did. That will have nice coverage during the day for a big chunk of Montana, with decent critical-hours coverage. It looks like signal over Billings itself will be good at night.

What type of stations does RAMS operate? It looks like they're based out of Alabama, according to the application.

RAMS apparently owns no stations but the people who own it apparently have a variety of formats including country and Hot A/C off of multiple stations

RAMS owns stations udner several different names... Great South Wireless, Great South Wireless RFDC, Brantley Broadcast Associates, etc.

One of their engineers owns his own station, WIRB 1490.

I also see another AM Permit in Montana (not owned by RAMS) has an application to move from Dillon, MT to Jerome/Twin Falls, ID.

Yep, Mainly an Alabama firm (thanks for the more info), but they did have a application to move one Am station 2 states and about 200 miles over but fell through only because the station changed hands after 2004.

With people expecting the death of AM, still got some AMers being moved and coming on the air for the first time

The station you talk about KDIL shows to not even be on currently and will loose the CP next year if not acted on. However as you said had a application to move to Twin Falls that got moved to outside Jerome within the past few weeks But drops from 10kw outside Dillon to little more than 1kw in Idaho

KDIL will get built, one way or another...

This biggest challenge for the new AM in Billings is that is no room for it. The market is over-radioed as is since the FCC approved the move of 92.5 from Cody and issues the licenses for other new two FM's (the Bar and the Planet). In addition there is a license for an AM (1340 / 250watts) and there's always KYLW-AM 1450 in Lockwood...which to best of my knowledge has never been turned on. It's owned by the gentleman who owns the Laurel AM and the Hardin AM.

There's only so many ways to split up a market of 119,000.

Those measurements made of KSEI to show no overlap sure show much less signal than predicted. Did anybody check to see if KSEI was actually emmitting a full 5 kw when they were taken?
