New AM log 7/18/15

New station in Alberta - finally caught it.

700 - CJLI Calgary, AB; strong with ID "The Light AM 700", just went to air on July 1st after testing for several months. NEW #699, 50KW at 429 miles. Signal destroyed KXLX, and there was absolutely no sign of KGRV at all!

Last night I heard 1120 KANN-UT, 1390 KLGN-UT (no KBBO anymore) and 1540 KXEL-IA. With a 14-day E skip drought, the big MW DX is just around the corner.

I logged CJLI 700 the other night. It was the first time I cranked up a DX radio in maybe nine months. Heard it on the GESR1.

Was able to ID it on fade ups through the KIRO splatter.

Last night I probably heard snippets of WYLL underneath 1160 KSL on my TRF (& loop). Didn't hear enough to ID it, was falling asleep anyway.

Looks like it's possible we may actually have a DX season this Fall and Winter? Who knows. Anything behind KSL is as rare as hen's teeth, any time of the year.....

If you guys are hearing WYLL in Washington State in July, that would seem to certainly bode well for the MW DX season. WYLL is tough duty (at least on night pattern) before you even get to the Mississippi River! Although the signal improves significantly north of the Salt Lake City null.

Sure wish that the Northern Ireland receiver would go back on line then we'd really have a MW DX season to look forward to.
Hey "Oldtimer", if you're reading this, please bring your receiver back. We love it!
