New AM on air in Ottawa

I really liked what I heard on 91.3 in Montreal when I was there last weekend. The classical music was really a nice treat and since it is 50% of the schedual, it will be very welcome here in Ottawa. I've already set a preset for it for the launch.

I've already pre-set it in the car, for my numerous Ottawa commutes. Although neither Catholic or francophone, I think I'll find this one a welcome addition, as well :D.

This afterno0n, they had switched on the Radio Ville Marie programming, but some time after 8 pm it was back to an open carrier. Should be back to normal programming by morning.

They were running Ville Marie programming again today. This afternoon, I was checking out one of their classical music programmes. Man...when was the last time I heard regular classical music programming on the AM band? I remember the days (rather...nights) of WQXR and when the CBC (now CBC Radio 1 service) used to have their late night classical music on AM, but that was some time ago!

The programming seems to be more steady now with a lot less dead air. It seems like it's in full broadcast mode now. The music programming is great. I've been checking out the Opera hour at 10 pm every day. My girlfriend and I really like the music we hear on the station.

Last classical music I heard on AM was when 1660 in Kansas City still aired classical. It's nice to hear it there again, and to me it sounds just fine. I hear very little difference between classical on AM as opposed to FM.

I wonder how far 1350's signal gets out?

I was in the Potsdam/Massena area this summer and couldn't get them on the car radio. But I was also getting adjacent interference from 1340 WMSA.

Since they weren't on in the summer (except for the occasional open carrier) they would have been heard. I stll get WMSA here in Ottawa, but it's really clear in Orleans. I swear Orleans is the best location for radio in the city. Everything comes in there.

The signal does not get very far! I'm up to Ottawa, several times a week. I can just barely get it in Kemptville. Here at home, I have a better chance of getting the Montreal FM signal.
