New Amp Talent

He's been on in middays on AMP at least 5 times over the last month or so. After listening to him, they'd be better off continuing to be all-music. For that matter, the entire station would be based on Kevin Weatherly's announcer picks.

For all their pushing of "new" or hip ways of communicating with their audience, McCabe has a PATHETIC number of followers. 66 in all, at this writing (one week ago it was 59). So much for that (Stryker's Followers on Twitter are fairly high but it's the same one he had from Loveline so hard to compare).

That said, AMP did beat KIIS 18-34 for one week.

I think we're missing the point here. AMP isn't about the talent, its actually about the music. I listen to AMP regularly yet have seldom heard the DJs. This works just fine for me. The incessant talking of the DJs over at KIIS detracts from the station, and always has me reaching for the dial.

I'm sure its an unpopular opinion on this message board, but so far I like the top 40 presentation that is music instead of personality driven.

Your statement doesn't make any sense. Then why have ANY so-called "talent" that they now do have in two shifts and eventually will be on at least all day and evening shifts?

AMP Radio is just the modern day version of Mike Joseph's Hot Hits format or what Southern California (from Rosarito Beach, Baja California) once had with the Mighty 690. Nothing new. So there wasn't a website, streaming, Facebook or Twitter then. That's about the only difference.

All about WHAT music? Just over 100 songs rotated every 90 minutes? It's just a glorified I-pod and isn't making an impact with what it is heavily "touting" as new ways to communicate with it's audience such as Twitter. Shows how overblown all that is to an audience that have grown up in the computer age.

Once the "newness" of this station wears off (and KIIS isn't the station that has been hurt the most by AMP), the station with personalities will always be the winner. This is not the first time KIIS has faced a challenger, including ones with less talk. With the exception of Power 106, over the last 25+ years, they are ALL gone. At this point, all I see AMP being is the station that killed off and replaced Latino 96.3 (which can't exist much longer). L.A.'s new teen station.

When did this happen???
Before the 10,000 Songs in a Row promotion ended, or after?

Week 3 April, 4/16 to 4/22.

I listen to AMP occasionally, and I first thought that it was an automated station. lol Where is the on-air talent?? Radio personalities will truly make the station successful!

Welcome to the 21st Century buddy. We don't need DJs for radio anymore...

Well, I like DJs! Especially ones that actually have a personality, not like that guy Larry Morgan on KSWD. He sounds like he is one step away from killing himself. lol

HAHA! I agree with the Larry Morgan thing! The Sound should step up Bradley Wright to mornings! He was one of LA's Best DJs in my opinion when he was with Star before they became alternative. He was fun, fresh but professional at the same time.

Yes, I agree! Bradley Wright is excellent. I do, however, miss Andy Chanley.......

The current McCabe video trying to imitate Chuck Geiger is embarrassing http://www.ampradio.com/casey-mccabe/ Why would his audience even care? Below that, there is McCabe "Stuck in the 80's". Who cares? This is not relevant to the AMP audience at all.

78 followers on Twitter for McCabe as of this writing. Pathetic.

Try tuning in at 3:00.

And Larry Morgan, Andy Chanley... about a nickels worth of difference. Look, I don't want to pile on, and I am sure they are very nice guys, but can we be just a little more entertaining? These guys get all breathless about playing an album cut off the new U2 album in the next set (they're the only station in town doing this, you know...) but other than that, not much. This is a rock AAA station my dentist could play in the lobby.

HAHAHA! YOU'RE KIDDING ME RIGHT??
It's hilarious how he's trying to attempt to imitate that video!

He has no talent. He can't even attempt to imitate.

Do you think KIIS is starting to get scared of AMP?

-Have you also noticed that KIIS is starting to use almost the same tagline on air?
-KIIS is also seeking back the teen audience! They've been visiting high schools around LA and OC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98D92hc9qsc. According to the KIIS crew, they started doing this a month ago! I had been watching the AMP Twitter and they visited high schools when AMP launched.
-I listened to Seacrest the other morning and it seems that he's playing more music than talking.
Plus, it seems that every song AMP adds, KIIS seems to follow.
-KIIS is now paying bills more than EVER!

I have noticed this too! KIIS does have too many commercial breaks. That is why I don't listen to KIIS really at all. I believe that AMP is a much better formatted and better sounding station.

Today was Booker's first "official" day at AMP. (Meaning he officially got his page on the website.) This was also my first time listening to him on the air, and all I could say is that I don't think he belongs at AMP after all. I had thought because he had a backbone in entertainment TV and on a CHR he would be ready to hit AMP up, but he sounds like he belongs on a station targeted at older audiences...

As far as appealing to an older audience...remember he's on in middays. The kiddies are in school. He's got to reach those 30 year old soccer moms.
