New APD/MD at the Wave

The Wave has picked a new APD/MD... again.

KBIG Programming Assistant Blake Florence has accepted the position at the Wave.

What's the life expectancy of APD/MD at the Wave?

What's more, what's his life expectancy considering his serious lack of experience.
He's the cousin of his former boss Chachi Denes, PD at KBIG and has been around,
so who knows for sure. Heard that he'll be under some pressure at KTWV and I can
totally believe it...

Does it matter? The last person to hold that job (now at Movin) has no real radio experience either.

I know 2 great music programmers/radio people who were there, but just for a moment. After a while it becomes obvious that this is one of "those" jobs. Beware!

hey nvr, Ricci Filiar has NO REAL radio experience? So being the PD at KRLA back when it was still music (at least 5 years) and the APD/MD at Mega 100 for 3 years before it swithced to Mega 92.3, isnt enough experience? Do you have a personal grudge with him or something?

Never heard of the guy, when exactly was he PD at KRLA?. Also not
the best career trajectory. programming Oldies in market 2, then what?
Gig is basically running Selector, now that's big time.

I stand by my statement. Why don't you ask Mucho Morales?

You mention both KRLA (as a music station) and Mega. Where are they now? Do you know how he got the job at KRLA?

Get real. He's an idiot. That goes for Harold Austin who was the PD at Mega, too. I worked many years with him and he has no real radio experience either.

So what do you consider REAL radio experience then? I know lots of people trying to get to the Number 2 Market to do anything, let alone be a PD or an MD. Now it really sound like you got a personal grudge...Bitter, party of one, your table is ready!

Do you listen to or know anyone in Los Angeles radio?

Lets see. Current Hot 92.3 PD got the job because he was the only one who would accept such a low salary after many others turned it down. An out-of-work Tucson PD that was supposed to be moving to South America. Of course, he has no real control over the station anyway.

KBIG PD. What kind of experience does he have? Well, listen to the station and it's quite apparent.

Harold Austin. Could make a decision unless it was from research. Then he'd still waffle. No on-air experience. He was just a "puppet" anyway. Sometimes they hire and PROMOTE you just for EEO (KKBT's Mike Stradford was another who can claim that).

Ricci Filiar. A gopher becomes the PD in L.A.. All the qualifications I need to hire in the #2 market. I am still waiting to hear if you know how he got the job?

Although I don't care for his style, the qualification of a true PD that deserves to program in Los Angeles can be had at KRTH.

I actually do know some people who work in LA having worked here over the last 11 years. I dont know how Ricci got the PD job, I'm sure you will enlighten me soon. It seems there's alot of people with no experience in this city. So how much experience do you have?? How many stations were you PD at?
Lets see...you were probably beaten as a child, which led to your hostility as a teenager, and continued into your adulthood, were you were continually passed up by people with NO Radio experience, for jobs that you were perfect for...did I come close? Oh, yeah, I'm still waiting to hear what REAL radio experience is.

If you don't know Ricci Filiar's (lack of) experience, you should not of butted into this thread. I already posted how you can learn everything you want to know about how he got the KRLA PD gig.

The rest of what you wrote just has me laughing. Maybe there is a place for you as a comedy writer...but not in Hollywood.

How ever he got the job, he got, and so did the other non experienced people in LA radio. And you might have a job as a politician cuz you danced around the question im asking. How many PD jobs have you had? What makes you more experienced than everyone else in LA?

Thanks Ham, I'll be here all week, dont forget to tip your waitresses!
