New Atlanta Alternative

This ran in the allaccess.com job opportunities page earlier this month. After looking at other major markets, sounds like there's room for an alternative station in only one "major market."

We're looking for GREAT on-air talent for all dayparts (expect Mornings which have already been filled) for a new rock/alternative station in a major market.

I can't give you the exact market location yet but when we flip we want to be fully staffed and ready to rock!

YOUR APPLICATION IS 100% CONFIDENTIAL!!!

This is NOT an entry level position!

We're only looking for outstanding, experienced talent. Although we have no problem hiring someone from a medium market if they are able to really blow us away, chances are these positions will go to experienced, major market talent so if you don't have the chops to dominate in a major market save us both time and skip this one.

Wow.

Yes, wow alright, lol!

I guess that person posting that ad is so much smarter than medium market people that can spell.

I am sure that helping that person with his grammar and spelling, would be a plus (just as long as they come from a major market).

???

It could be Chicago or Phoenix - hope it's ATL though!

Chicago has one that's doing ok but you're right Phoenix doesn't. Is Phoenix considered a major market?

Chicago has triple A but not alternative. Neither does New York.
Where have you been? Merlin relaunched Alternative in Chicago on 87.7 and it's already outperforming where Q101 was for it's final year or so on the air. Merlin also relaunched Alternative on 101.9 in NY. They even brought back the WRXP calls, even though the playlist is strictly Alternative this time.

I just assumed since its frequency was so low that the Chicago Alt. station wasn't full signal - but ATL definitely needs an Alt/Rock station, since we now have 4 stations essentially playing most of the same music...

Sorry! You're right!! I guess I've just been head focused on Atlanta's disaster.
